Post match: Arsenal v Liverpool (EPL 9/10/22 4.30pm)

The refereeing was shit, but isn’t it always? At least in PL?

We were shit too, just look at the first two goals we conceded.

I don’t have understand this either. It’s like there is some sort of competition to see who can be the most outraged. The latest buzz phrase is criminally negligent. Seriously, you think people should go to prison because we didn’t buy a midfielder?

Everyone needs to calm down a bit.

Incredibly similar? Have you watched that one? He actually threw his hands up at the ball. It was beyond unnatural as even with the leap it didn’t make sense why his arm went fully extended above his head unless he was intentionally trying to swat it away.

That Arsenal player’s hand was in an unnatural position. But it would take a massive bucket of Liverpool bias to see that as him trying to hit the ball away or to deliberately block it. Now you can argue, fairly, that intent plays no part in handballs any more, but to me when weighing up both proximity and unnatural position, then the balance for an unnatural close range contact will weigh in the defenders favour whereas a player with his arm outstretched above his head windmilling the ball away won’t.

Very very very different situations IMO.

And allowing Diaz to get the shit kicked out of him until he went off injured the free kicks we were not given while we were on the attack allowing then to counter attack fast the yellow to Gomez for time wasting the yellow to Bobby? Etc Oliver was blatantly a homer it reminded me about the Everton game where he allowed them to kick the shit out of our players and to discombobulate VVD knee with his snarky smile
I know we were bad at times but even allowing for that Arse and Téta were terrified of our players we should have come out winners or at least a draw if he is our best ref god help us against shitty YNWA

Because they’re aging out while the bones of the new squad are coming in. Likes of Konate, Diaz, Nunez etc are the future while Hendo, VVD, Thiago will be transitioning out of the team. You have this weird period where some guys are on the decline and others are still progressing.

And even then, we haven’t won it. Batshit fucking crazy that the league has let this happen.

What worries me even more is that FSG didn’t allow Ward to buy 3 midfielders to help Klopp with in juries in that area but instead he gets a loany already crocked and keeping Keita who has down tools as soon as his mate Mane left
That is the source of all our problems at present
Just as we had when all our CHs were injured and seeking solutions by shifting Hendo and Fabinho all over the place
There is a lot of work to be done right now to remedy the situation in the January transfer window

I really don’t see the difference mate.

Klopp was really annoyed about the Gomez yellow card, pointing out the Arsenal wasted time all through the first while we were in the ascendency, and that Oliver only game Homez a yellow because Arteta screamed at him.

I am certain Arsenal did the same thing from a throw in early in the first half. No card.

They were time wasting blatantly unpunished every time they were in front feigning injury all the time Arseteta obviously teaching them the full repertoire of shithousery

There is a broader point here about our unwillingness to get stuck in to shithouse behaviour.

Oliver said as much last year - his reflection on the lack of any action on Van Dijk when Pickford did his ACL was that the players should have asked him the question.

That alone should have prompted an inquest at Melwood.

We need to be in the referee’s ear on every decision. We need to appeal for everything. Roll around on the floor. Make the most of challenges. And most importantly go as a team. Everyone appeal. Everyone get involved. Including Klopp.

It’s all good and well being morally superior, and winning the fair play league every fucking year, but it’s absolutely killing us on the pitch.

Sorry, but this would absolutely kill my relationship with this team.

This is the exact same logic by which people (rightfully) excoriate Chelsea, PSG, and City for what they’ve done to the sport, just to turn around and demand that FSG join the ranks of owners pumping in billions of external funds.

I don’t want part of that arms race and I don’t want part of Shithouse Theatre.

Not to their extent but we need to stand up for ourselves on the pitch. We cannot keep turning the other cheek. At one point it becomes stupidity. We should be claiming what is rightfully ours. If that means drawing enough attention to the fouls then we absolutely must do it.

If Oliver HIMSELF said that the VVD assault (because that’s what it was) needed more attention drawn to it so he would mete out a red card…then it’s stupid of us just to amble away and think the refs will make the right decision.

They will not.

We have to poke them in the eye for them to do something.

My preference would be that teams are refereed fairly, and shithouse behaviour from the players is stamped on quickly.

But that isn’t going to happen, and we continue to walk into fights with one arm tied behind our back. We’re always going to be on the back foot.

He did. He said after the game that if we wanted Pickford sent off we should have appealed for him to do that.

The penalty shout on the handball yesterday. Salah and Nunez appeal. No-one else says a fucking dickybird. The appeal lasts about 2 seconds and then we shrug our shoulders and play on.

That’s it then. Twitter said so. Run him out the club.

There is something incredibly wrong if shit behaviour like that is rewarded.

And it’s presented as the preferred option in a league that’s pretending to be the best in the world

I’d put money on this being bollocks.
