Let’s face it. All the evidence is currently pointing to his staying. Which wouldn’t be my choice, but it’s not up to me.

The problem is that his bollocks feels insulting. When he blathers on about us underestimating what a next magical transfer window is going to do to us, its like a personal attack.
Its too much, the spin is unacceptably insulting, it becomes personal and he should know better.

I totally get that, but I think it’s a symptom of the pressure he is under. He’s saying stupid stuff because he is struggling, and everything he touches is turning to shit. I think if he needed to empty his bladder at the minute he’d find a way to piss in his own face.

You have to account for some mitigation, regardless of the position we find ourselves. Slot has never had a challenge of this gravity in football before, and he perhaps agreed to it, but the train wreck of a transfer summer 25, likely was an unplayable hand.
I find it hard to think of last summer as a trainwreck that is somehow a mitigating factor in a dire season. How many managers in world football see that quantum of talent added to their side?
The comments he made last summer about building a side in line with his vision really stand out now

Well it gave me dysphoria watching it play out I was already thinking, and what shape and tactics does this leave us with then?! That seemed to be the debate on here before we turned totally uncompetitive.
I also cannot think of another top team that has tried to swap out so many 1st team starting 11s in one window, where it has worked. TBH it looked like a corporate refit approach to a football team.
I am genuinely in disbelief you dont realise, or have some gloss to bring to this.
It was actually gun-ho and stupidly irresponsible.

I think the scale of change is definitely a factor, I just struggle to consider it mitigation. Perhaps it was all forced on Slot, but it absolutely did not seem so 10 months ago

Yes we do not know the internal conditions. I think even Klopp would have struggled with that level of personnel change, but then he wouldn’t have been daft enough to agree it. Not to put the cat amongst the pigeons but the problem could be even farther back, an inattention to replace the squad gentler over more years, might be an issue here as well.

I’ve asked this question myself. Personally, having zero incomings followed by a glut which didn’t address all the squad issues was a massive error.
That doesn’t excuse what I’m seeing on the pitch after a season though

Yeah, and even if it was it still doesn’t explain how we haven’t improved one millimetre in the months that have followed. If anything we’ve gone the other way.

Isn’t this more to do with the fact he can conjure up moments and without it we are just a plodding team instead of a plodding team with moments.
The performances haven’t been good regardless.

Yeah, in Football Manager, no serious player would have done what we did last summer.
And if we had to replace players, we should have bought new players with same profiles. For example, TAA should have been replaced by the likes of Livramento, since Frimpong is not a full-back in a back four formation; Diaz should have been replaced by Gordon or Rogers who could played at both LW and CF positions; Wharton should have been brought in not Wirtz since we need someone with strong long passing more than a No. 10 player after TAA left.
Oh, btw, Wirtz was very very easily shut down when we played Leverkusen last season (unlike Nunez, Haaland or Minamino).
