Post Match: Bournemouth v Liverpool (EPL 1/2/25 3pm)

Very tough place to come I think Forest, City and Arsenal have all lost there. We come out of it with two goals, a dominant xG performance and all 3 points.

Huge day for us in the title race in my opinion.

We weren’t at our best and i thought Bournemouth played very well. I was expecting a draw tbh. Alisson was immense in saving us a few times. It could have 1-1 or they could have been 2-1 to Bournemouth. Today, the football gods were on our side.

I am just relieved we got 3 massive points from an excellent Bournemouth. This result will give us some breathing space if we make the odd mistake in the next few games.

We just need the Arsenal and ManCity to drop points to be abit more comfortable in the final few months.

I agree a big game to win and perhaps a big weekend

Lucky not to have conceded? Yes.
Did we deserve to win? Also yes.

Even if they had managed to equalize, we still had Jota, Elliott, and Nunez on the bench to change the game’s momentum.

& you seem to be one of those people that never has anything constructive to say about the games and just waits and bides his time, on the lookout for certain posters, baby reindeer stalker like, so he can have a bit of a groan and a bitch.

PLEASE give these two new contracts.

Couldn’t care less if they leave as long as they win us some more major trophies :grimacing:

That felt lucky!
I aged 20 years, near my death bed, so had to punish myself and did the washing up (was lots as I cooked this morning).
Anyway good win and a clean sheet! :tada:

Take it easy Flobs. I know what you mean though. I can’t handle pressure of watching all games this season.

Arne just seems to relaxed about everything.

That’s a little hyperbolic, it generated a nothing shot from outside the area.

Haven’t seen any of the match yet so can’t really comment too much but I expected England to be on his best behaviour today given he’s been nowhere near our games since Spurs away last season when he basically fixed the match in their favour. He had previous too.
Coote was the same, eased back in after 18 months with a few low profile cup games, kept his nose clean. Look how that one turned out.
As for Bournemouth being like a Klopp side they are a very good team but it’s one thing doing it when you’re playing once a week and another when you’re all over Europe for the first half of the season. Good luck to them though, they’ve done us a couple of favours this season.
Really good 3 points, a City win or a draw tomorrow would be fantastic.

Bournemouth gave a very good account of themselves and gave us a tough game. They played on the front foot and played their football. Much bigger clubs deploy cowardly tactics against us, so credit to them. They have some good players too, with Huijsen, Kerkez and Semenyo catching the eye today. The manager will probably get a bigger job soon, too.

So they get a lot of plaudits, but we get the points. Fine by me.

We were calm when we needed to be and showed quality at decisive moments too. Salah, Alisson and Gravenberch were my picks, and it looks like most on here are saying the same. We have depth on the bench to freshen things up and shore it up as needed.

Trent wasn’t very good. With the contract situation and Real Madrid waiting in the wings, it adds an unhelpful dimension, and it is almost making me wonder if he wants out now. In all likelihood that’s not true, but he had a bad game. So did Szoboszlai.

It was frustrating to see so many of our players lose their footing. They have options to choose different boots and that looked a bit amateurish to me. A slip here and there is part and parcel of the game, but that was too much today.

The ref had an ok game. Once he found his yellow card he got a bit happy waving it for a spell there, but since he made such a hash of the Diaz goal at Spurs, I was grateful that he didn’t have an outcome-influencing affect on this one. I’m not going overboard, but such is the sense of dread with many of the officials, I might be over-praising basic competence.

The table looks lovely. 9 points is a very nice gap. Nothing is won yet, and there’s still a long way to go, but that was a marker put down today.

Over to you, Arsenal. They will be feeling the pressure and I expect Arteta to crack up and the gap to grow. But I’m not taking anything for granted.

So was Bradley, in fact I feel Trent defensively was better and soo much better when we have the ball.
So what do you do?

Hopefully short term and not the worse place to happen especially as we have no one out currently long or short term.

Jones deserves a lot of credit today, our game changed when he came on.
A great win and just about deserved.

I love this description of Virg on TIA player ratings:
