Post match: Bournemouth v Liverpool (EPL 11/3/23 12.30pm)

Terrible performance today, we just didn’t look like we were interested in getting the win, young Bajcetic and Elliott completely lost in midfield and fab plodding along in slow motion, surprised Klopp took Nunez off as he can score from very little.

Looking at his body language Núñez was too.

I had a medical emergency that needed tending to, is that alright for you?

The context was when you were defending Man City’s owners, they are not from Qatar they are from UAE and there is plenty of examples of the death sentence being used for homosexual people in UAE.

But your right in Qatar theybare much more liberal. There they only serve 7 years in prison for homosexuality.

Whatever

For me, it is a bit different.

Peanut scenario : LFC’s CEO can give you a hard non-negotiable 50m transfer budget to buy players to start your revamp and leaves you to figure out the rest on your own.

Blocking transfer scenario : LFC’s CEO thinks the player you are buying is not worth the investment financially and doesn’t approve the purchase and leaves you to figure out the rest on your own

As for FSG convincing Klopp to go back to VVD is news to me. Do you have a link to that?

UEFA FFP states that," Only a club’s outgoings in transfers, employee benefits (including wages), amortisation of transfers, finance costs and dividends will be counted over income from gate receipts, TV revenue, advertising, merchandising, disposal of tangible fixed assets, finance, sales of players and prize money. Any money spent on infrastructure, training facilities or youth development will not be included. The legislation currently allows for eight separate punishments to be taken against clubs transgressing the rules, based in order of severity: reprimand / warning, fines, points deduction, withholding of revenue from a UEFA competition, prohibition to register new players for UEFA competitions, restrictions on how many players a club can register for UEFA competitions, disqualification from a competition in progress and exclusion from future competitions.

Clubs are permitted to spend up to €5 million more than they earn per assessment period (three years). However it can exceed that level to a limit if it is covered by a direct contribution from the club’s owner. That limit, however, can go up to €30m if it is covered by a direct payment from the club owner or a related party.

As for the PL FFP,
" The Premier League, at least on paper, is far more lenient than UEFA when it comes to financial rules.

It allows for three-year losses of £105million — or an average of £35m a season — compared to UEFA’s £25.4m.

Premier League regulations make clear that clubs are expected to file their annual accounts by March 1 each year.

As a consequence of the pandemic, the Premier League decided to postpone the March 2020 assessment due to the season being suspended. Instead, the March 2021 appraisal was amended to cover a four-period — 2017 to 2021.

Similar to UEFA, England’s top flight allows clubs to have “add-backs” to their profit and loss sheets based on things such as investment in women’s football and youth development.

The Premier League’s rulebook states that any club failing to meet the financial requirements put in place could be subject to a points deduction."

3rd highest revenue in world football and we cannot afford a 200m warchest excluding player sales and still keep within FFP for both UEFA and PL?

To put it simply, FSG has poured money into increasing the matchday revenues ( by increasing stand sizes) and all the other profit centres which doesn’t leaves them with much money for the cost centres like wages, transfer fees.

It was nice of the lads to show solidarity with Gary by refusing to perform so that we don’t have to watch MoTD

Would you like to take this to the owner’s thread?

Elliott really offers nothing in the midfield.

Rebuild can’t come soon enough.

I thought Elliott was having a decent game. He is not a robust defensive midfielder, and never will be, but in the right balance, there is definitely room for his type in the midfield. It’s just that the qualities Elliott lacks were not there in sufficient quantity in the others, today.

Random example, and I’m not saying we will do it, but Kone - Bellingham - Elliott would have everything you need in a midfield trio.

In the last two games he looked much better but today he was running round like a headless chicken.

I agree a stronger midfield and Elliott would be far better he’s shown what he can do. I don’t really get some of the criticism of him sometimes.

Everyone was though

True but was not one bit surprised by his substitution.

We don’t deserve CL football

Elliott isn’t good enough yet. Neither is Bajcetic.

If we were as good as we were in 2019 they would be fighting for minutes off the bench, not starting games every week.

We should not be delusional about their level, a couple of good games here and there doesn’t make them the answer. Feels like the standard we expect from our players is slipping.

In 18/19 Klopp subbed Shaqiri off against Southampton when we were 3-0 up because he was unhappy with his defensive work, despite the fact Shaq had been really good with the ball. Elliott has the same deficiencies but probably hasn’t had a single game as good with the ball as Shaqiri was in that game. That’s the level of difference we’re talking about.

Everyone knows we need more midfield experience.

Yep. It’s a fair point to say Bajcetic and Elliott aren’t at the level required yet. There’s still a gap to where they need to get to in order to be mainstays in the side.

With that said, shame on the other midfield chumps we have then!

We are at the stage where experienced players, not just older players but prime age players too, just haven’t done it this season.

So kids are coming in, and they are on a hiding to nothing.

Ideally our youngsters would be introduced to a purring midfield, with the remit to show us that they can play at this level. Instead, they are being asked to carry the thing, so something has clearly gone wrong with the management of this part of the team.

Sign two top midfield operators this summer and we won’t look back.

Watched the first and most of the second. A solid meh. But want a positive? I’ll give you 7 and they can last the season
Put 6 past Madrid and this result is history.

As some of you know, mum is over. We have taken her to Picardy for a mooch as her only experience with France was Paris and it was a bit grim.

This morning was spent at the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland memorial and then Amiens cathedral.

Glad I had something else to focus on!!
