To me it didn’t feel there were really any outstanding displays (meant in the literal sense, not the Brednan sense). If you’re looking for key contributions then maybe Mo (set up the key second and scored the third), but for a game that started uncertainly we’d wrestled decent control of it by the time he even came on, so it seems a bit star fucky to give it to him.
Not a bad position to be in where you win away at a supposedly difficult stadium with a collection of 12 or 13 7 out of 10 performances without needing any one player to be exceptional.
I voted for the two Irish lads, Kelleher and Bradley. Kelleher made a couple of great saves and was very unlucky on one of them that it fell to Toney. He looked reassured and made some routine saves due to good positioning. He was also good with his feet.
Alisson is the best in the world, and when I heard about his injury I was gutted, but if Kelleher keeps giving us solid performances like this, he will help steer us through until Alisson returns.
Bradley was pretty good too. He played high up the pitch quite a lot, so Konate had to get over to help cover the space, but this was by design. Early on Bradley almost scored with a quick shot that he prodded with the outside of the right, but the goalie saved well. He also had a couple of other decent shots. It wasn’t as good as his recent MOTM display, but we’ve got a player here, and I voted for him because even with his difficult personal circumstances, he came back in and put in a decent display.
Klopp asked the same question in post-match interview.
To be fair Endo and Mac were smashing into their lot, which was great to see. But 4 free kicks to us is unfathomable. Nearly the same number as injuries
As for the game, I thought Brentford were quite physical and their approach directly led to two injuries for us. It’s hard to say if they will be a game or two, or longer term. The Jota one looked bad, and I’m braced for the worst and expecting to hear about knee ligament damage, but hoping for the best.
Jota’s header for Nunez was very good, and the finish was exquisite. Lovely to see that he has a finish like that in the locker.
Nice to see Salah back. Half a game and he still had a goal and an assist, as well as some iffy play while he blew the cobwebs off. Mo will have a big role to play if we are to go on and win the Prem.
It was nice to see Gakpo score and even though he isn’t starting right now, he has an important part to play.
Gravenberch also had a bit more industry about him too. He is silky and smooth, and looks to have a lot of talent, but in the Premier League you have to fight before you can play, and if Gravenberch learns that lesson, he will be a good player for us.
A good all round performance from everyone today against a decent side and tricky fixture. Hard to single any individual out but I gave my MOM to Endo. His work rate and ability to break down the opposing team is top notch. Both injuries are very concerning but hopefully not over serious. Well done team.
I really hated watching that, what a nasty bunch, wish we had put 25 past them and come away with a clean sheet. Never seen grown men falling down like 2 year old trying to grab attention.
The ref was worst for falling for such child like antics.
At least we got that all vital 4th and I hope that taught them a lesson!
