Post match: Brentford v Liverpool (EPL 25/10/25 8pm)

Our win at Frankfurt was clearly an exception driven by the fact that they’re absolutely shambolic defensively and they play a more open game in Germany which caters to players like Wirtz who operate more easily in space.

Other than that, we’ve been on a dreadful run of form. When so many players are not in form, then you can’t help but look towards the manager - err, the head coach.

It might not be fair, but Slot got an unprecedented 450M investment in the squad this summer. It’s on him to make that work.

I know it’s premature, but the GK strategy is definitely looking bad. Not saying this only because big M is nervous. His poor positioning and indecisiveness when defending dead balls, and his passing is terrible.

Exactly this if we were progressing different matter but its not.

It wouldn’t harm, would it? Our defence looks a mess and Mamardashvili looks like a rabbit in the headlights in a one-on-one. He’s not a bad keeper technically, but he doesn’t imbue confidence on his defenders. Sort of reminds me of Migs.

The Brentford keeper looked in control. Maybe we should have gone for him? Oh…

To digress Szobo had a crack.

In a proper slump. Get back to basics. If Andy can’t start twice in a week, play Joe Gomez. Will offer more solidity against teams looking to score off set peices. Kerkez can then be a sub option.

How many in the past 7 games have we resorted to putting on attacking players, and then losing all shape. Dom having to be moved around several positions.

That’s fine now and again, but it feels like our set move now. Go behind, struggle to score against a low block, throw the kitchen sink.

No point in voting for man of the match. I can’t think of one.

Yeah I find the credit in the bank argument bollocks when these performances are being put out there. This poor defending has been weeks on end and it seems to get worse.

He looks utterly clueless and I don’t want another article this week on how “we need to improve”.

Szobo by a country mile. Again.

He’s in a different situation now. If he can’t sort this, he should be sacked. Holding on to somebody out of their depth out of loyalty is foolish.

He needs to demonstrate he can fix it. So far, there’s little reason to believe he can.

We’ve played a quarter of the league and truth be told over performances have been poor since the end of last season.

I watched Feyenoord a couple of times with Slot at the helm and it was a good solid side. He seemed tactically astute and the team had a great passing game. We are currently the opposite

Unfortunate choice of words.

Stop being prideful. Start parking the bus and playing on the counter. Maybe that’ll get some of our players operating in more space.

A striker dead, another striker wanted out by most people here, a creative trophy winning fullback wanting to go to Madrid for the past few years finally gone, another declining from age and needing a replacement coming in at least to provide rest, and losing Diaz to Bayern, is ripping up a winning formula.
Right.
We have done our best to feel these voids, and I think they will end up good, at least most of them.

Forget the title, that’s borderline fantasy delusional talk.

Can anyone see where our next win is coming from? We’d do well to make the top 6 playing like this, the football has been a disgrace since Feb.

Embarrassing conceding 3 and allowing 8 shots on target and 17 in total to a rookie Brentford manager. Sorry Arne but you look clueless and out of your depth.

Faffed about for the first 11 centre back we needed. Bought complete polar opposite full backs to what we’ve used for the last 7 years. Bought a light weight attacking midfielder when we had Szobo and disregarded the defensive/physical midfielder we needed to cover for Grav and Macca. Bought a striker for bonkers money after we’d already bought one that was perfectly good enough and didn’t get cover for LW after Diaz left.

Maybe Jurgen will have had enough rest by now?
