Post match: Brentford v Liverpool (EPL 25/9/21 5.30pm)

Is Konate a more refined option?

He is again, nothing has changed there.

Disappointed at the result, should have won that game but looked like we set up expecting to win it.

Fabinho didn’t have a good game, but he was left so isolated with too much to do with Hendo and Jones playing so high up the pitch.

Thought Klopp would change this second half, but this trend continued up until the substitution which again was questionable by bringing on another attacker.

Jota just didn’t provide enough defensive cover on the right side and like Fabinho, Trent didn’t have a great game but was also left exposed time and time again.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, however, we should have and thought Milner would have come on to get more control of the game and shore up our midfield; i think if Keita or Thiago had played today we would have won that.

Our profligacy infront of goal is criminal to be honest, should have killed off that game in more ways than one and wonder why the likes of Minamino can’t get a kick when we see these sort of performances from Mane; not sure why Firmino even got on the pitch to be honest.

Tsimikas has deserved to play in this team with his performances thus far, Robbo shouldn’t be anywhere near the team at the moment.

I fully expect a response against City, but this is undoubtedly 2 points thrown.

that balance in the middle is lacking and its difficult for hendo/fab to build chemistry with either keita or thiago as they are injured half the time… Klopp and company see the struggles TAA is going thru defensively, they will figure it out. Its the middle that worries me

Was extremely poor from them today. Can’t believe I’m saying this but the big guy was off it almost from the start and that second goal… sure it was a rebound but that was a poor effort when the Brentford player knocked it in. Very messy all round at the back; our usually rock solid CB’s decided to be shrinking violets while our right back was ganged up upon on multiple occasions.

That said, 2-4 and we’re hosed. Mo, geez… I love him and his record is incredible but he should honestly have double the tally and that is probably only a very slight exaggeration. Haaland would be World Player of the Year in this side. The lad would probably get close to 60. We’re just not clinical enough and that’s been a running theme.

Excellent game for Salah again. However he missed a sitter which would have made the difference.

Our defence were absent today including VVD. And the boss made only one substitution!

2 points lost in my opinion. It should have been 3 points in the bag.

Great game for the neutral and all that but I was just glad when it was over. I could see us losing it. It was almost as though we hadn’t done our homework on them. Everything they did seem to come as a surprise or if it wasn’t we still had no answer to it. Launch a high ball to the back post and triple up on the full back worked so well they did it twice. The back 5 had a collective mare. They just couldn’t cope.

Once Bobby came on it was a basketball game. Maybe JK was banking on us taking our chances once it became so open and if Salah had taken his at 3-2 he would probably have got it right but I wanted to see us take control of the game. Put Milner on to game manage or even a third CB. Instead we carried on swinging away with Brentford looking like they would score every time they came forward. The equaliser for 3-3 was depressingly inevitable.

We miss loads of chances but that won’t cost us the title because we’ll always score goals. It’s at the other end that titles are won and lost and we won’t win the title defending like that.

No doubt our CBs didn’t have a great game, however, the midfield didn’t mop shit up, I doubt they even won any second balls to be honest.

Midfield was a shambles today, for me that was the biggest issue.

We seem to be saying the same thing every week, even after a win. When will it change?

I’m amazed he didn’t use Milner at some point today.

Please dont do this anymore…its nerve wracking and makes me swear!!

Not just Milner, only one substitution in a game like this is puzzling.

It certainly is, considering we play again on Tuesday.

It took me an hour to breathe normally again.

I swore for most of the game, also when we scored and got told off for it.

He nearly always turns to Milner so it’s a bit strange maybe he wasn’t over the illness that kept him out of the cup game.

It’s been a running theme for all of last season if not more. Yet the club did nothing this summer to improve the situation. That combined with Salah and Mane going to AFCON. Somewhat concerning.

Yes, specially if Klopp is planning to play him against Porto.
