Post Match. Brentford VS Liverpool. PL Match 7. Saturday October 17th. 1500 hrs

Also credit to Munoz being added to the long list of right backs

Really could do with Leoni entering first team training sooner rather than later. Least there is a decent 4day break between Villarreal and Brighton and no travel.

Actually it’s 4 straight games at home.

Mostly of it were lay offs to guys edge of the box, some came from short corners. Hard to recall us having 20+ attempts in truth but that’s what the stats show.

It was nine in this game. He has 20 for the season. I thought it seemed a lot, but I have always found the centre of the pitch hard to follow. I tend to notice what’s going on with the wings more.

After they went to 10 it was a bit of a shorting gallery. Probably feels like less but only a handful looked like they had a chance to go in.

Well, was he?

who the fuck cares, we won. 25 more such wins please. And we’ll get better too.

We should have won the previous match against cheaty as well too

What a good result for us! I was fearing a backlash after our European game, although I was also thinking that we had a chance to take the three points today.

The red card obviously helped us a lot to get the control over the game. The time between our first and our second goal was the best period we enjoyed. Really putting up the pressure. We could have scored three or four.

Shortly after Isak’s goal though, it seems that the legs became heavy. Not much came from us anymore, and the last 15 minutes were surreal: even with a man less on the pitch, Brentford looked more likely to put a goal in than our lads. Even when they went down to nine men, our boys still couldn’t manage to simply put the foot on the ball, and pass it around. No control, trying a dribble or something, and eventually losing the ball. It was pitiful.

But the fact is that we take the three points from a notoriously difficult ground today, and that our lads did what was required from them, if only just.

A pity for the injuries. That’s what always tends to disrupt any form of consistency. The remaining lads will have to step up and be counted.

I thought he played well. Yeah he did ‘freeze’ on a couple of breakaways and didn’t manage to convert a relatively easy one on one , but he was always involved and always looked a threat. I’d put that down as an encouraging performance and would expect that he’s only going to get better.

Victory and good job officials. Not a great performance but away at brentford… 3 points will do.

3 pts…

Random thoughts

  • foolish to rush Dom back. And if played, Dom should of come off the bench as a precaution. And started Nyoni.

  • we have talented players, but no real cohesion. Feels like certain players can only play well with certain other players…

  • isak was Haaland like today. Didnt do much all game but took his chance and scored.

  • if we waited 1 yr from now, we would of bought Victor Munoz for £100m. (great goal with his left foot)

  • Macca is our best all rounded CM

  • Barcola and Wirtz had good but not dominant games imo.

  • Barcola’s finishing and decision making… its quite bad at the moment. Good assist though.

  • I cant wait for etitike to come back. Wirtz is waiting too!

If we build some chemistry and cohesive with the current squad… easily top 4, and a cup title.

Great 3 points. Decent ref after giving them everything in the first 30 mins.

Barcola is coming on nicely. Just needs a finish or 2.
Jaquet is fantastic.

We just need some midfield control from somewhere. Not sure if it’s just the midfielders or a shape / FB issue.

Not sure you have seen many Haaland games. Hate him but he works his socks off every match. He’s physical, huge workrate and has more touches than Isak in every match.

He really doesn’t to be honest…

He might have more touches than Isak but I’m not seeing that Haaland you describe.

to be brutally honest, some of the theatrics are not what i can relate to from a football team, let alone a LFC team, … yes, no need for the lectures about thats how things are yadayadayada, i just simply dont find it enjoyable to watch… everytime a player gets breathed on they stay down for an extended period of time, waiting for i actually dont know what

i cant give my votes to Munoz, his football deserved it, but the five minute act around landing wrong and the writhing and rolling around, i cant be dealing with, then the chest thing vs Schade,

Was never a red, or, to put it more accurately, that should never be a red…at the risk of ridicule, to quote a meme, the games gone and ultimately, long term, would have been better for LFC if he stayed on (more below)

Barcola needs to finish chances, but at least you can see the quality of footballer there…

i cant watch Kerkez, his go to move is to get infront of his attacker and fall on the ball, i just cant watch it anymore…

am i happy with the result? probably, but im very wary…i would have much prefered to see how we went aginst an 11 man Brentford at 1-0 down and i think long term that would benefit us better, this game gives us nothing apart from ( a very important) three points.

we still seem to struggle to go for the jugular… absolutely horrible to watch us fluff our lines , game could have been put to bed.

in sumation

3 points
probably nothing else gained long term
theatrics are an increasing issue

lots of work for Andoni.

Totally agreeon the theatrics, does my head in.

Always happy for 3 points but they just paper over the cracks. Without Yarmoluk’s stupidity we’re not winning that.
We’re not a good team. Nowhere near. The drop off from winning the title 18 months ago is off the scale.
Munoz the shining light, hard to be excited by the rest.
