Post match: Brighton v Liverpool (EPL 12/3/22 12.30pm)

They were quite emotional about it at HT. Crouch pointed out that we’ll see someone get sent off for brushing a face with his finger tips. Yet that outright assault didn’t even get a yellow

Maybe I misheard, but I thought Walton didn’t come out explictly with saying it’s a red, but rather VAR should ask Mike Dean to look at the monitor (which going by his usual form, is a strong rebuke).

Probably as strong as it gets, I have them muted so I didn’t hear

Any word on Salah’s injury?

That’s a shocking attitude. Who says you shouldn’t be drunk at 2.30?? You did need friends like that.

Yeah, the rascal Mane took the opportunity of the celebration melee to run his studs down Salah’s calf.

Ok, I’ll get me coat.

Foot problem. Klopp didn’t think it was too bad but didn’t elaborate and it still needs assessing. TBH, if he doesn’t feature midweek I doubt he’ll be playing before the international break which is maybe no bad thing?

Diaz MotM for me. Looks to be another great signing but I don’t think we will see him at his best until next season.

Also a mention for Allison. He may not score the goals but he definitely wins the points.

I thought keeping Thiago fit would be key for the quad… but it’s Diaz, he’s lifted the club. Insane really, doesn’t even speak English.

That’s why he’s a great fit on the left because neither does Robbo.

Can a mod please ban Mo’s agent from the forum, he keeps on voting for Mo as MOTM.

Klopp said it happened as he attempted a shot that got blocked. “Overstretched” his leg, which I guess is the same as hyperextension…?

Easily forgotten because it’s standard for him but that one handed save from Alisson… phwoar… best keeper in the world.

Very important three points, especially due to the fact we could not beat the Seagulls in the last three PL clashes. A routine win and a clean sheet, apart from the first 5 and maybe last 5 we completely dominated the game.

Diaz MOTM (and no other player was close really) - constant runs around their players, dribbles, magic, and a goal he even risked his head for! What a signing he already is! Matip deserves a mention for his defensive work and an assist - so Matipesque! Becker the key man to hold a clean sheet.

3 points in the bag, let’s hope Cheaty slips at Palace on Monday. And then unleash Bobby on his favourite victims at the Emirates on Wednesday.

For me both Mane and Salah are looking pretty jaded. It’s like Mane is playing at 50% his top level, and Salah more like 60%-70%.

It’s part of the reason Diaz is looking so good is because two of our best players are off the boil.

Recorded the game and watching now.

Don’t know what to say about the foul on Luis. That’s the worst decision since Pickfords foul on Virgil.

And that’s why referees in England are a joke. Embarrassing really.

Felt like a relatively comfortable routine win. They never really looked likely, until Wellbeck’s chance near the end.

Solid win and 3 points, just what the Doctor ordered.

Feels a bit like the fluidity in our attack has gone recently. We’ve obviously not had the most settled set of lads with the AFCON, injuries and Diaz only arriving in Jan but it all feels a bit forced and dare I say selfish at times.

Competition is great but I do worry there’s a bit of not wanting to be the one left out and too many opportunities are being squandered by poor decisions.

Jota hasn’t come back from injury well at all but he likes playing Arsenal if memory serves so here’s hoping that’s the one where it clicks back for him.

I have been reflecting on the red card or not decision, and to be honest we were lucky that Diaz was not sent off, thankfully VAR and the refs haven’t become that bent.
