Post match: Brighton v Liverpool (EPL 19/5/25 8pm)

Well said – and even preseason can be slightly misleading. We were atrocious during the 19-20 tour, including when I saw us in Boston, and then started the PL season like a house on fire.

Roll on next season. These 3 games since we won it have been (understandably) frustrating and horrible to watch.

Just goes to show how a teams performance can suffer from a drop off. Shows you how focused they were.

That was a game of zero importance with the team and coaches mentally and physically on a beach for a few weeks.

If we are going to pass judgment based on this one, then Konate shouldn’t play for Liverpool again and Diaz should be sold. Salah missed an absolute sitter and fluffed an excellent chance, whereas Bradley was a liability at the back. In fact, if we really want to single out players, those who did well were Quansah, Alisson and Gravenberch. Chiesa played exactly like someone who had started 3 games all season.

I honestly don’t know why you’d expect anything better. If anything, and if we want to be asking questions about professionalism and diligence, maybe we should be directing them to Slot who has been giving them and himself 3-4 days off for a few weeks now.

i dont get the shrugging of the shoulders and the who cares additude…beyond pride, which should be enough, it is important to rack up points, and keep winning for phscological reasons…tweo months time we’ll just be champions with a pretty low points total, which undermines how good we were and could have been…

last few months have been pretty average if we are honest, and the application to this game and the last few weeks can do one as far as im concerned …people are still paying money to travel accross the country for this, paying for streaming services, emotionally invested

players should look in the mirror and ask themselves if they think 83 points is good enough…becuase its not…

im over the moon we won the league and ill celebrate this season for years to come, but fuck me, could you guys just close it out like champions…

Looked like the lads are on their summer break already.
Gone are the days of playing for the shirt, when there is nothing riding on it.
Play for their bank managers.
Total crap, and disrespectful to the club and the fans who pay good money to watch this tripe.

How are they supposed to do that? The season is over for all intents and purposes, they spend half the week on a beach somewhere. They were supposed to perform and establish themselves when it really mattered throughout the season, but they never really got a chance, did they?

Not the most positive interview

But they don’t even grab their chances.

I’m going say Quansah has a decent game up to 2-2. He might have brainfarted on the final one but he did look like he wanted to perform.

Not sure I’ve seen that from Chiesa and certainly not from Nunez and if I’m honest I’m starting to get a pissed off with Jones. That second goal was an utter pisstake.

Been thinking about this after tonight’s fucking nonsense. Some of the squad are going to be wondering if they’ll still be here next season. Nunez is probably gone. Jota, Tsimikas, Chiesa, Elliott, Endo and Quansah are the ones who might be gone in the summer. Jota and Tsimikas have played quite a bit but can Arne Slot look the other 4 in the face and honestly tell them they had their chance to impress but didn’t take it?
The answer for me is no, he can’t.

Someone in the pub put it this way: “It is like a team wins the Super Bowl…and then has to play 4 more after it.”

That is both the blessing and the curse of the Premier League: they don’t have to go through the meat grinder of a playoff…but winning early makes the final celebration almost anti-climactic.

I’m just hoping they pull off a win next Sunday. It will, for me anyway, make the trophy-lifting more satisfying.

Can’t believe Grav did get more love he was by far our best player, he won so much possession and was again excellent when in possession and I felt for him because our midfield had massive gaps and he covered a lot of ground trying to shore up those gaps.

Loud disclaimer that I didn’t watch the game because I wasn’t feeling well, but if he was playing down the middle then it’s possibly just a reflection of what I’ve been saying about our centre-forward play for the past few months now.

Slot has to provide them the platform to succeed. Playing them once in a blue moon for 15 minutes, or if and when a starter goes down, isn’t conducive to them performing. Neither is playing them from the start in games where he has changed the entire team.

We had the exact same conversation regarding Gravenberch last season. He hardly played and half the forum wanted him sold in the summer. Now, we’re having the same arguments about squad players who have already proven that they’re good enough, but were never given a proper chance to establish themselves under Slot.

I thought our goals were pretty special last night, but the rest of the performance was demob happy.

It’s understandable for the players who have played every available minute, but less so for the fringe players. I wonder if one or two of them are aware of transfers out of the club?

its another game that bradley hasnt completed which is a concern. I really thought that he would complete at least one 90 mins after we won the league.

Somehow the match thread was more cheerful reading than this thread. Absurd.

We lost and played poorly, by our standards.

Did you expect a bed of roses here?
