I get the discontent at the recent performances, but I think that undersells the razor-thin margins at the very top of elite sport.
The game is a million miles from the days when just ‘digging in’ etc was enough. That’s part of it…but these guys are like F1 cars, physically and mentally. A drop off of just a few % and you’re fucked.
BHA are no slouches, either. Plus their nutrion people, their physio people, their science people…they’re all as good as ours. What sets Liverpool apart from the rest is the talent of our players and the mentality they have, but these days those attributes alone won’t get it done.
I wish we’d smashed 90 points, too. But the release after being wound up like a spring for almost a year, always on a knife-edge physically and mentally…hardly surprisng.
While I echo some of the concerns above my real concern is Mo. He just doesn’t deserve to be starting next season based on his form the last (half dozen?) games. We need to sign a replacement in the summer; someone at least who can remind him he doesn’t get to play every minute . If we could sell him to Saudi in the summer for a hefty fee I really would think it was for the best. Sorry Mo! Hopefully a summer rest and preseason will see him have a good back half of 25.
With all due respect, we don’t need some Yanksplaining using the fucking ‘super’ bowl. Football leagues are very commonly won before the final round, it’s nothing new. Our performances since suggest that we still really rely on intensity and aren’t (yet) a team that can win without it: in four ‘dead rubbers’ this season (inc last CL league game) we’ve only collected 1 point which was in a game we had reason to want a result to do psychological damage. Without that edge we are a pale facsimile. Hopefully the Palace game will be different and we’ll be motivated for the party
difficult to accept losing a game, but have to consider the pressure on the players all season after delivering number 20. Hopefully they have the relaxed attitude out of their system and start a never ending winning streak(yes, it’s my dream), from now on.

He knows he’s done, and to be fair whenever he has had chances this season he hasn’t impressed. I like him as a player, but when your career is on the line like his, you have to take your opportunities when they come along.
I think people need to wake up to what is going on here.
Yes, we could have gone hell for leather to knock 90 points. And I’m sure we all know that had it been necessary to win, we beat Chelsea, stuff Arsenal and find a way past Brighton. Lads can be asked to go the well again. Reserves can be found.
Slot’s responsibility now is to do right by the lads who have got us to this point. If he thinks the lads need rest, or a week on holiday, or telling to stay at home while rarely used players go to South Coast, then that’s happens.
A lot of these boys are off with their national teams as soon as the season finishes, and it’s not long until they are back in pre season. They get very little respite from the toil of football. It’s a gift to be able to rest players and reduce their effort like this, and one which will benefit us in the long run.
Talk about ‘pride’, ‘professionalism’ and (the worst of all) ‘banter’ can fuck all the way off. I want these players in the best possible shape to go again next year. But the rest of the league will say we’re poor champions if we only get 83 points. Who gives a fuck? I’m more interested in what the rest of the league say next May when we win it again. It’s their responsibility to keep us honest, and if the rest of the league give us the chance to put our feet up and get some rest and downtime into lads who rarely get it, then we take it with both hands and laugh in faces of anyone who moans about it.
Yup and those fans who have paid good money to watch their team play well in advance of the title being confirmed can fuck off too if they expect to see our team play for them, titles done , so no need to cheer the team the 12th mans job is done etc…should have been at the beach with the players etc.
No , i dont think so because your pretence of being a guardian for speaking for the “working class man” only goes so far it seems, if you cant comprehend that a lot of working class people spend a load of money to watch the team basically not give a shit about them or the badge because “its won” is frankly a disgrace and im sure shankly would be turning in his grave seeing us not put in 100% and partying abroad before the season is over.
