Post Match: Brighton v Liverpool (EPL 8/10/23 2pm)

Whatever way it gets dressed up… That game last week has really disrupted our early season momentum. No Jones today, no Jota, points lost to Spurs in that game, a full week of headlines and chatter, was bound to impact negatively on us.
Back after the break, new spring in our step to push onwards.

In games likes today’s game, I think we miss Thiago. We need a midfielder that help us control the game, keep hold of the ball and slow the opponent down.

That guys has been Jones

Our press was oriented towards the middle and stopping their build up through central MF. And it was largely successful

Thats what Macca brings us

The result was disappointing but not disastrous.

Most of the players (specially in the first half) were in first gear, yet, we were leading till the 80 min. Then, there are the what ifs. What if Brighton had a player sent-off! What if Gravenberch or Diaz were more clinical!

No point in brooding over this, onwards and upwards.

That was ages ago…I’ve moved on!

Football is a game of small margins.

Statements acknowledging that we’re in a transitional phase or undergoing a rebuilding process, it only serves to underscore the shortcomings of the club in effectively reinforcing and enhancing the team.

Top four and a good run in Europe is rather bleak. We’re in the Europa League. Don’t believe there’s one top team in the competition. As for top four, well that’s quite the achievement. The bar is a bit low.

Im finding the reaction of a few fans a bit hyperbolic. We have narrowly lost 1 game due to being on the end of a diarrhea blathered stick and drawn another and now everything is shite.

Because we’re supposed to win everything all the time.

Well it’s where we are so best to suck it up, and maybe try and enjoy it

Disappointed not to get the Win… but feel the players are still recovering mentally from the injustice of the Spurs match.

I believe this will be the start of another unbeaten run.

He was aware of 2 of the players, but the 3rd came from his blind side and the pace of pass into him would suggest to the player he was ok on that side. It was Virg’s pass that caused that issue.

Although for once Ali was slow getting back into position and then got his positioning all wrong.

It will happen again as when teams press there is always risks

Brighton struggle against teams that sit deep ket them have the ball and hit them on the break with speedy players

Have you seen the 2 challenges from Guimares, puts Jota’s fake 2 yellows into perspective.

We are a pressing team, and they want to be pressed to create overloads in midfield and upfront. It stands to reason that they are our bogey side.

Thiago has had games similar to Macallistr where he has been pressured and he has lost possession, it happnes and will happen again.

But otherwise I agree, Thiago would thrive in this team, but as with Mac not if he has too much space to cover as they both lack recovery pace

Yes Szob was almost playing a 10 in our press with Diaz deeper on the left ona more orthodox LM position

Indeed. However I just feel we should be aiming a bit higher. While we’re in the Europa League we should be winning it. Add to that the FA Cup or League Cup. Plus competing for the title. That’s more respectable.
