Post match: Burney v Liverpool (EPL 27/12/23 5.30pm)

Yes and it was roundly criticized and acknowledged by the pgmol as an incorrect decision.

Weird game. We were never threatened by Burnley but I canā€™t say that weā€™d be 100% happy with the performance either.

I liked Endoā€™s effort this evening. Seemed to be the only steady player in midfield while others kept losing the ball.

Personally Iā€™ve no real complaints on the disallowed goals. At least you can understand why they were disallowed and they didnā€™t affect the result.

Iā€™m just sad that yet again weā€™re talking about shit refereeing.

Iā€™m sad, Robbie.

Which is a good example of why you canā€™t referee a game while reading a rulebook. Who gives a shit if the keeper can see the ball or not after heā€™s already made the movement to the wrong side of the goal.

Mo should have thrown himself to the floor.

I just canā€™t keep up with all the apologies from PGMOL.

Salah would not have been in an offside position had the Burnley play not pushed him into an offside position.

And I would bet my fucking house on that goal standing had Burnley scored it.

Pretty much sums up the game.

We won. We are top of the league. Jotas back.

However, I found it difficult to enjoy any of it as I was simply waiting for their next bullshit excuse to fuck us over. In fact towards the end I was seriously disinterested in watching the rest of the game and was quite happy when they blew up for full time. This is why I canā€™t be remotely bothered with the Premier League when it isnā€™t us.

Anyway. Iā€™m off to watch Chicken Run.

Maybe. But what we think the rules should be doesnā€™t change what they actually are and what the refs are required to apply

There are plenty of reasons to be aggrieved by our treatment this season. We minimize our own case by complaining about decisions like this and the lack of handball against Shaw

As far as I can see the PGMOL dod not apologise, but Howard Webb acknowledged it was an error on some Sky Sports TV show.

Its not minimising anything to point out the rules are badly written or that you canā€™t referee a football game by reading the rulebook verbatim.

Trafford - already moving to his right hand side - is wrong footed by a finish by Elliott. The rulebook says that because he couldnā€™t see past Salah, who had been pushed into an offside position by the Burnley defender, then its offside. This is despite the fact that his movement to the right started before the shot came in and had he had a clear line of sight he still wouldnā€™t have been able to react and make a save. Physically impossible.

If this is a correct interpretation of the offside rule then clearly the rule needs to be amended.

One of those I expect Iā€™ll be more impressed watching back.

I think we played really well but it didnā€™t feel like it after the second disallowed one.

Anyhow hope Jota does that a few times in the next month.

Paul Tierney does not need rules to be badly written in order to screw us over.

The way Howard Webb was talkingā€¦he sort of knows the certain men in black have a gripe with usā€¦but tried to pour soothing oil on his explanationā€¦he knew it was a penaltyā€¦

Amazon are certainly over hyping Burnley performance they didnā€™t have a shot on target.

My mistake. Was thinking of the Gakpo goal when Darwin caressed the Burnley defender.

Thats more grating than the offside one.

Werenā€™t they great. Real breath of fresh air. Play football the right way.

Should have been beaten 4-0, but never mind.

Then pinged for diving and shown a yellow
