Weird game. We were never threatened by Burnley but I canāt say that weād be 100% happy with the performance either.
I liked Endoās effort this evening. Seemed to be the only steady player in midfield while others kept losing the ball.
Personally Iāve no real complaints on the disallowed goals. At least you can understand why they were disallowed and they didnāt affect the result.
Which is a good example of why you canāt referee a game while reading a rulebook. Who gives a shit if the keeper can see the ball or not after heās already made the movement to the wrong side of the goal.
However, I found it difficult to enjoy any of it as I was simply waiting for their next bullshit excuse to fuck us over. In fact towards the end I was seriously disinterested in watching the rest of the game and was quite happy when they blew up for full time. This is why I canāt be remotely bothered with the Premier League when it isnāt us.
Maybe. But what we think the rules should be doesnāt change what they actually are and what the refs are required to apply
There are plenty of reasons to be aggrieved by our treatment this season. We minimize our own case by complaining about decisions like this and the lack of handball against Shaw
Its not minimising anything to point out the rules are badly written or that you canāt referee a football game by reading the rulebook verbatim.
Trafford - already moving to his right hand side - is wrong footed by a finish by Elliott. The rulebook says that because he couldnāt see past Salah, who had been pushed into an offside position by the Burnley defender, then its offside. This is despite the fact that his movement to the right started before the shot came in and had he had a clear line of sight he still wouldnāt have been able to react and make a save. Physically impossible.
If this is a correct interpretation of the offside rule then clearly the rule needs to be amended.
The way Howard Webb was talkingā¦he sort of knows the certain men in black have a gripe with usā¦but tried to pour soothing oil on his explanationā¦he knew it was a penaltyā¦
