- Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have won all six of their Premier League games on Boxing Day, the outright most by a manager with a 100% win rate on this day in the competition’s history.
His attempts at humour are so painfully shit.
Less than comfortable win.
Referee/VAR going out of their way to fuck us over.
Spent 2 1/2 minutes proving Mo was offside for Elliots goal, and zero seconds considering that Mo had been pushed into an offside position.
Ignored the push in the back on Endo, then 5 seconds later booked Trent for a very innocuous foul.
Gravenberch is so far off the pace it’s embarrasing.
Jota is back nicely thanks.
That commentary was beyond awful.
Joey Barton has a point.
M&S turkey crown, £40 for 5-6 people.
It fed 2 adults and a very small dog.
Bah fucking humbug
This is back to our peak of a few years ago.
Great signs.
Which he would’ve been instructed to had Quansah done a Charlie Taylor in our own box.
Last game of 2023 won comfortably, even with decisions against us. Top of the league, best goal difference, in late knockout stages of two cup competitions.
This team is quality.
When’s the pgmol acknoledgement due for the wrongly disallowed goal(s)
When he said that Kompany has a ‘Zen like quality’,I couldn’t take anymore.
Both goals should have stood, end of story.
Tierny and Hooper are biased cunts. They chose to disallow them because they wanted to.
That said, we really shouldn’t be wasting so many opportunities, thank fuck that Jota is back.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to Amazon Prime: "We tried to find what was the Liverpool way and it looks a little bit like throwing hurdles in front of us and finding ways to get over it. We played an incredible game and then it was just 1-0 which was really strange! That’s the way it is in football. With the most difficult situation in the whole game probably, we make it 2-0.
"It’s wonderful. That’s a super goal [from Diogo Jota]. Another player who could have been in contention [for MOTM] was Wataru Endo, what a game he played.
"We’ve created a lot of chances recently and haven’t used an awful lot of them but in the end it’s about performing. We’ve played four games in 10 days and you just have to get through it. Now we have five days between now and the next game so it feels like we should go on holiday? No, the boys will have two days off with the family.
"It was a great first goal. Cody Gakpo played really well - there were so many good combinations. A striker needs these situations. This time the ball is in. In general, the game we played was exactly how we wanted to play. In that time they had no solutions but we left the door open and that’s how it is.
“[Darwin Nunez] is an incredible finisher but if a striker doesn’t score, the whole system is not the same. You question everything. It’s not just the outside world, but you question everything. But it was just in the moment and he has it so it’s all good.”
On the second disallowed goal and an apparent push on Mohamed Salah into an offside position: "Only somebody who has never played football can make this an offside. It’s insane when you see that.
“Why do referees create their own view on something? We all watch football and need the referee but we need them to make the right interpretations of the rules. It’s like, wow. Handball is sometimes handball and all these kinds of things.”
Less than comfortable to win it was a stroll.
One day we are going to give someone a real good drubbing, for the time being I’m happy with winning which is much better than 1:1
They had a 10 minute spell just after Elliots disallowed goal where we were far from strolling.
Thankfully it was handled well enough
It was still comfortable.
Agreed
The thing about Jota is that he doesn’t need too many chances to stick the ball in the back of the net. A very intelligent player and reminiscent of Robbie Fowler.
Yup, he can put in a 5/10 and yet will pop up with a goal or two.
Well they are 3:2 down atm keep fingers crossed for thursday
City got a goal in a similar position. Apology from PMGOL or not, its an arbitrary decision that we never get.
If the goal today is deemed as Mo being offside, then the push on him into that position needs to be checked for a possible penalty.
And its not about wanting to change rules, its more about a consistent and equitable application of those rules.
Three major incorrect decisions against Liverpool in two games over the Christmas period, when we are in contention…
Go figure
It was a comfortable win. 2-0, no shots on target for them, and we strolled through it for the most part.
It got more nervy than necessary because we didn’t add a second goal until late on. When there’s only a goal in it, you are always susceptible to a sucker punch, especially with a ref who delights in sticking it to us.
Alls well that ends well.
Top of the league, let’s see what Arsenal do now.
We aren’t purring along but we are still in a title fight.
