Turgid 12 points 4 on the bounce top of the league masterclass
Just total domination everywhere, not that it means we played particularly well. Burnley played for a draw from the start which always makes it difficult to play football.
Wirtz has a few problems with attacking game:
- Playing average for large periods.
- When he does step it up, the players receiving the ball have terrible first touch (Mo).
- Should be shooting in some instances rather than trying that last intricate pass.
Mo needs to step up and pad his stats before his vacation in Africa.
Hey, we got another one of those clean sheet thingies.
The good :
- Frimpong brought the fucking goods today with his crossing.
- The entire defence was solid as fuck probably due to Burnley being overly defensive.
- Bradley’s cameo brought in energy. That helped to up the pace of the game.
- Szoboszlai’s energy in the middle helped to repel any potential counter attacks from Burnley.
- Rio looking quite good in his cameo by varying the stuff he brings to the box and not doing some hopeful punt.
- We still have a fit Isak to come.
- Wirtz seems to be getting quite used to the physicality of the English game now. This is actually Burnley who can be very physical.
The bad :
- Kerkez needs to stop his shit of trying to simulate a dive. Not gonna work here.
- Macca looks goosed and was not helping the pace of the game at all.
- Gakpo’s so predictable and doesn’t look up to see what’s around him. He ignored his overlapping FB runner quite a few times, causing the whole of our game to be more narrow than it is already. His set-piece is poor too.
- Bradley’s attacking output suffered later in the second half. Fortunately, Frimpong is there to help.
- It is just fucking shocking that we have zero presence in the box in the first half that made the team so easy to defend against today. And then for the huge chunk of the second half, zero runners into the box. That was terrible.
- Our offensive corners are a fucking mess. Who the fuck decided that Gakpo is a corner specialist when he is 1.93m tall and Szoboszlai, Macca and Wirtz was still on the field??! Who the fuck decided not to have Szoboszlai be the appointed corner kick taker for the Wirtz’s side and we chose Robbo after Wirtz went off???
- Salah looks really bad today in open play but delivered at the most important moment…His form is concerning…
Still haven’t played a genuinely good game, but this was better - if you could call it a match. What it amounted to was a painful ‘live fire’ attack training session which the team struggled through. But Burnley was always going to Burnley, and they came away with 3 points. I have no doubt that workout will lead to some improvement in the weeks to come, and in the meantime we are putting more and more teams 2 results+ behind.
I think I was most impressed today by our substitutes. Possibly it was just fresh legs as Burnley were tiring, but I thought it was interesting that we had Frimpong on with Bradley. It seemed to overload them, even if the goal did result from a forced error.
I’m quite glad to get this out of the way, because I can see rivals dropping points here.
I still don’t understand why we bought Wirtz. I don’t think he is a bad player I just think its a not needed addition extra options on the would have made sense.
At first I thought we were lucky that Oliver did not call Mo back for a retake of the pen, as I thought I saw Frimpong (oops, misspelled his name) stepped foot in the box before Mo took the pen. But watching the pen several times, I realised that Frimpong actually leaped and in mid air while Mo shot. That was a bit unusual by Frimpong.
Missed the game. Thought that hopefully we won’t have such games going forward with the thuggery and double bus parked only to realize the next two games are Atletico and Everton. ![]()
Is he a new Japanese addition?
Sorry @legalalien !
Maybe he could see the future ![]()
You picked out as many goods as bad after that stinky shitshow? Fair fucks to ya lad.
Eh? Why does Flimpong sound Japanese to you?
All asians are the same?
Reckon I’ll just switch on Wednesday with 10 minutes left to catch the winner.
Well, otherwise, how did LFC somehow won if the bads are more than the good?
Yeah, no idea why we’d buy one of the best young midfielders in the world having spent the entirety of last season running the same four midfielders into the ground. Just put play Endo more.
Watching the game, I hadn’t realized the Sean Dyche was still managing Burnley.
Well because the result is the result and the performance is the performance…both things have and will always be treated differently.
We’ve won plenty playing shit (i.e every game this season) and we’ve lost a few playing superbly (i.e PSG at home or Madrid in the last CL final).
