Post match: Chelsea v Liverpool (EPL 13/8/23 8pm)

We missed Thiago today. We might have won this game with Thiago as CDM and Maaca playing further up. They were there for the taking. Pity we didn’t

Early days. Hard to draw conclusions. Dom looks a good buy. Trent looks a beast. Ibou and VVD both solid. Alisson was immense. Need a bit more quickness in link up and creation. Let’s see how it gels in the next weeks.

Doesn’t like being substituted. No need to make an issue of it imo

I’m not one who thinks pre-season is totally meaningless as to how we’ll play, and the same problems carried over to the competitive arena.

Robertson really needs competition at left back, he did not play well and doesn’t suit the system perfectly. Trent was far too much at right back today and that was the primary reason he was barely involved in us going forward, need him more in the centre.

Mac played well apart from a few poor passes at the end. 2 central defenders were pretty good. Szboboslai was MOTM for us.

Work to do defensively, we did not look good at all.

We’ve had this for six years. Mo is the ultimate pro, and a lot of that anger is the dissapointment he sees himself in not doing more. We’ve discussed this for years. Non-story for me.

It’s obvious why both clubs are ready to beat the British transfer record for a holding midfielder. Both are lacking control of what happens on the pitch, and concede a lot of chances to the opposition.

Correct offside decision cost us momentum.
Incorrect handball decision cost us the game.
Simple as that.

I wouldn’t give them the warmth off my piss.

I do think people are more critical of him than he is, I always noticed him at Palace. I wouldn’t mind him as an addition to the CM with one other.

Allison is the MOM for me. Two brilliant saves and neat goal keeping as usual.

He’s back in Brighton begging them to keep him

I felt that Konate and Mac Allister were our standout performers today. Allison probably saved us the point.

Not sure how to feel about the result; we could have locked it down early (Salah’s VAR decision appeared to be correct but that would have been the 3 points for us quite likely), but I felt lucky to get the point in the end.

Not too bad a result but we need to do better, especially since this Chelski team isn’t likely to be contending this year.

How the handball by Jackson was not a penalty is bullshit

Anyhow I missed the first 20 mins and so saw the goal through Sky’s YouTube linked from the official’s page and the commentary was an international feed however the commentary was far better even in the foreign language.

After a very good first half hour for us, it all went downhill and we suddenly forgot how to defend and surrendered possession and control to Chelsea.
We looked less likely to lose the game after Salah and Diaz went off. Just about deserved a point but could’ve been three if whoever was on VAR had done their job and given the penalty.

No idea how that’s not a PK….clear handball
