Somewhere along the line we’ve lost the ability to defend and the ability to control a game of football when we’re ahead. We are constantly involved in games of helter-skelter football.
As usual the sick-notes and non-contributors are costing us. We still have a great first 11 when everyone is fit and available but that’s not going to be the case for some time going forward.
Some hard decisions for JK in the summer, a cull of the squad is needed and a couple of big-money signings.
As for today I’d have taken a point beforehand so not going to complain too much, just need to maintain our top 4 place because we’re not winning it that’s for sure.
Said it a few days back, I’d be bringing Neco in at RB and move Trent further up the pitch to try and do exactly what he did for our 2nd today.
Hard to pick 3 MOTM so wont bother.
Probably already been mentioned but Tyler and Neville are an absolute fucking disgrace with their agenda-driven commentary. Sounded like Neville had gone off in his kecks after their 2nd the fucking inbred cunt.
We don’t operate like city just keep buying and buying players, Like at Dortmund Klopps success comes from hard work from the whole team, we press the shit out of them until they make a mistake and then we do our best to punish them for it.
In a kamikaze game we get lucky.
Against the run of play we go two up !
Whoopee ! Must win game, away from home, job done. Shutters up, slippers on, cigars out.
But no ! Our tactical geniuses decide to carry on with the kamikaze, pinball, end to end madness.
How much are we paying the small army sat on the bench with the laptops, clipboards and sheaths of notes. The couldn’t organise an U11 team !
With that level of naivety we won’t win sod all.
Depressing. Very, very depressing.
I’ve suggested buying a maximum of two players, on the back of 3 or 4 windows when we’ve done very little business.
I don’t want LFC to be a City, Chelsea, PSG or Newcastle, but sometimes needs must and you have to invest in some new faces to strengthen where it is most needed, see Alisson and VVD.
It’s not about loyalty. It’s about what we can practically do.
We’re not going to be able to replace an entire midfield in one go. Let’s take them in order.
Milner - his contract is up this season, and that’s probably the end of the road for him.
Henderson - can inherit into the squad’s elder statesman role from Milner, but there is no way he is done yet. His form has been rough for a few weeks, but he’ll bounce back. Constantly written off. Constantly comes back strong.
Fabinho - another one short of form, but on his day the best DM in the world. Let’s not forget he’s recovering from Covid.
Thiago - absolute boss midfielder who needs a run of sustained fitness.
Jones - was unlucky with Covid following the eye injury, but needs a run now. He’s shown his value and should improve further as he moves out of the young prospect category.
Morton - good prospect, but a long way to go before anyone should be suggesting we build a midfield around him. Looked out of his depth against Spurs, which is only fair.
Elliot - clearly going to be an absolute world beater. Will need time to get back after his injury, but I’d expect him to start making appearances before the end of the season.
Keita - vulnerable to being moved on, but I’ve seen enough from him to suggest that there is a quality player there if the injuries can be controlled. The real problem is that he can walk on a free next summer, so he might just sit tight and wait it out.
Oxlade-Chamberlain - the one I would listen to offers for. It’s just not working out, and while he’s done a lot better with fitness that people realise, he really looks like a lad who needs a move.
So, as I said before I expect Milner to leave, one of Keita and Ox to depart, and go for a belter like Bellingham.
Bying two or three would mean spreading the money too thin, and I would sooner go all in on Bellingham than try and be clever.
We miss Gini there’s no doubt, Henderson needs a rest but we don’t have the players to give him one, Milner should be gone this season, not sure what to do with chamberlain he looked good for a few games but then missing again, Keita also just keeps picking up injuries, then Fabinho and Thiago both pick up injuries especially Thiago so cant be relied on. Elliott and Jones breaking into the starting 11. I’m sure Klopp and his team have identified a couple who would suit and will bring one here in the summer.
It’s certainly a place we need to improve, Thiago was certainly missed over these last few games.
A bônus would be to enter Feb with both he and Elliott back in the running.
Guess we will see, hopefully he is available for the second leg anyhow, I do agree with you on Milner, should be for the lower games against others and cups with cameos in some.
Any news on Harvey? What’s the timescale we’re looking at?
Nothing still the usual, I would hope he appears soon in some coverage, with the amount of weight he was putting on it I assume we may hear about him soon.
On instagram yesterday he hinted he would be back very soon.
Havertz forearm in Konate’s face. Could easily have been red.
Mount kick on Tsimikas. Could easily have been red.
Making an agenda out of Mane on Azpilacueta is biased.
Chelsea were foulers all game too, pushing a lot - Havertz must have pushed VVD half a dozen times for example; grabbing arms and pulling our players back - happened to our fullbacks all game long, happened to Mo a lot too; and lots of sly little stamps on the foot in an innocent looking way. In the last 20mins they also went over easily to claim free kicks in threatening positions.
The only player we have on the team who has that sort of stuff in his locker is Jota. He is excellent, but also plays in such a way to try to make sure we get what we are due.
Given the way the games are refereed, it puts us at a disadvantage when other sides do a lot more of the dark arts stuff.
As for today, 2-2 at Chelsea is a decent result, especially given current challenges. Having been 2-0 up it doesn’t feel good, and watching Man City score against Arsenal in stoppage time to open up a sizable gap makes the draw at Chelsea not seem enough.
The title has not gone, but obviously we have a mountain to climb. We need to regroup and start to get some wins on the board. Hopefully with AFCON we can still get the points we need.
Kelleher, well played that lad.
Nothing better to do so just did a bit of research on where we stood at this stage of the season whenever we’ve won the title, going back to the 1976-77 season.
What’s immediately apparent is we are performing better this season than in many of those seasons we won it which just shows how fucking skewed the whole thing is because of those sports-washing, cheating cunts down the road.
What we are seeing from this team is better than normal figures, especially when you consider we have played 11 aways in our 20 games, we have played 3 aways on the bounce at a time when Covid has swept through the squad and we have been cheated out of a probable 5 points at West Ham and Spurs.
We have at least as many points at this stage as in 6 of those 11 seasons, we have only lost fewer games in 2 of them and have never scored as many goals (52) as we have so far this season.
What we are seeing is a Liverpool side performing as well as some of the best sides in our history but because we aren’t keeping pace with financially-doped cheats people are throwing their toys out the pram.
Anyone who thinks Mane should have been sent off today, has never played football. There was no intent and he didn’t look at the cheating little prick, he was up against.
Nice hoodie Sadio. Good luck! Come back safe.
Disappointing game,disappointing result.!
One thing for sure, if we have any aspirations left for the title we need to get our Mojo back right now.
It is a mountain now.
Kelleher was the bright spot in that game for me.
Onward and upwards!
I hope that wasn’t our last chance at scaring Shitty enough to be looking over their shoulder for us. We’re only half way, and lots can still happen. Shouldn’t be letting that slip today, though. Might do Sadio’s head good to be away a few weeks. We’ll miss Salah. Need Senor’s genius back badly.
Too much rationality for a forum post. Does not compute. It’s 2022. Where is the OUTRAGE?
Where is the Henderson is the WORSE (sic) footballer ever?
Where is the Mohamed Salah is TOO OLD and FINISHED at 30?
Where is the we need to RIP OUT our ENTIRE midfield?
Where is the we need to spend BIG and pay WHATEVER IT TAKES for RICARDO QUARESMA?
Red, you are 100% right about this. It’s a huge concern about this side and we’re not getting what we ought to at least partly because we accept it. Everytime one of the blue cheats has something go against them they make a scene and put the ref under pressure with the intention of getting the next call. Manager does it too after the match. Klopp instead said Andy deserved to be sent off which (while not untrue) only makes it easier for the refs to give decisions against us. Jota is a step in the right direction here as neither Mane, Mo nor Hendo have the cunt gene that puts pressure on the ref for every little thing.
It would have been a disgrace if Mane had been sent off after 14seconds for an unintentional elbow while jumping. We have allowed the narrative that Mane is dirty and Mo dives to persist and now they get fuck all. Klopp hasn’t defended Andy and now he will be next anytime he commits a slightly robust challenge he will carded. We need to start calling out the opposition more and I’d even like to see a new media hire that takes over as much Klopp press stuff as possible and absolutely sticks it to our challengers whenever remotely possible with the sole purpose of creating negative talking lines about their players. Also like to see some private investigators hired to put the pressure on the refs and media. If our opponents are mediaeval hydrocarbon cunts then we need to be properly armed to defend ourselves.
Mentality monsters mice.
