We went back to the title winning midfield so many clamoured for, and it looked like they’ve never played together.
There’s no cohesion. No anticipation. People making runs and there’s no pass - or a pass is made where there’s no one making the run.
If you would have told me that they literally stepped off a plane and met each other for the first time before the game, I would have said - “yeah, makes sense.”
The lack of confidence is only contributing to the overall disjointedness.
International break. Manchester United at Anfield. Could be the palate cleanser we need.

Less said about the first half the better. We were poor. So were Chelsea, apart from their goal. We got better in the second, and started to get shots on goal.
Resulted in Gakpo getting us back level. Game was then open after that point. I wanted Joe Gomez on for last sub to get that defensive solidity in the back. Unfortunately, another late goal conceded.
International break, so time for Slot to work on things for when the players return.

Never really had control of the match at any period of time. That was what surprised me the most.
Except you had a very goosed Macca and a Gravenberch who had to cover for a poor bradley.

Our lack of ability to play out from the back strikes again.
Trent covered for the deficiencies of Konate and Gravenberch. We need a progressive passer back there, we’re awful to watch at the moment.
Hate to say it but our transfer business has left us unbalanced. I don’t see this just as problems with bedding in, we have some fundamental problems.
If gravenberch is the best midfielder in the world, what is Caicedo? Tremendous again, he was a big miss for us.
We need a tactical rethink. To only score one goal against those Chelsea and Galatasaray teams is abysmal.

Subbing your CB for no reason is costing us. Stubborn Slot need to change that. Why on earth you change your CB and put a CDM as your CB and then bring a more defensive CDM when you need a goal. Twat of a decision. He has done it twice and we lost both the games. It’s deffo on Slot and that Wirtz is a passenger. Macca hasnt been 50% his previous self and Bradley is so poor and is no way better than Trent defensively and offensively there arent any who is better than Trent at RB.

Not much to say. This is a team that will not compete.
You can’t win if you are not prepared to put in the work, no matter how talented you are.
There are a lot of other issues, but the crux of the matter is that. Let’s win some duels, let’s stop ball watching and maybe we’ll have a chance to get 3 points again.

Think slot needs to stop trying to get this new squad to play like last season’s. Very different make up to the squad this year.
If we’re playing with wide forwards then Chiesa really should be starting as the inform forward atm. Personally would prefer a more solid midfield set up with Wirtz in the hole behind Hugo and Isak. Either way something needs to change. Can’t with both Gakpo and Salah as it means our attacks down both wings just run down blind alleys until they lose the ball. Start with one to make the other wing more open then switch later in the game. That way we have a direct wing and more intricate play based wing.
Also, I get it’s frustrating, but really this season is the transition season we thought last year would be. Lots of outgoings and incomings, gonna take a while for them to gel.
Might pop in again in a day or two as I feel I will have different opinions about who played well and who didn’t on certain players

Oh bollocks! It’s not been a good week. We seem to be getting nore disjointed.
Hopefully, after a week of Mickey Mouse games they will reset, but the constant international breaks aren’t doing us any favours with building a cohesive new side.

I think is overstating it. Moving Szob to full back, and bring Jones into Midfield got us back into the game. It was the sub of Endo that killed us.
Should have brought on Gomez. Put him at DM or move Gravenberch back in midfield. Whichever way. Just not Endo. He isn’t the best player anyway, but dropping into that cold isn’t going him any favours either.
