Post match: Chelsea v Liverpool (EPL 4/10/25 5.30pm)

On Konate, wasn’t he injured? Wasn’t that the reason he got hooked? I thought I saw him limping and then a couple of minutes later he came off.

Obviously one can argue that Gomez should have come on instead of Jones

Yeah, just seen elsewhere he has a thigh injury. He should have been rested in midweek and that’s not just hindsight.
Hopefully he pulls out the France squad otherwise we’re down to 2 CB’s and Slot clearly doesn’t rate one of them.

Is Slot as good of a manager as we think he is? He won the league in his first season. But he did it basically with Klopps team. Klopp would of won more titles if it wasnt for Man city’s cheating dominance…

So now Slot has his players brought in. Except for Guehi.
This season we will find out how good Slot really is!!!

*we need more energy and passion out there…Chiesa needs to play more.

I have my doubts on that front now, those changes in the second half reminded me of when you have an odd one on Football manager.

The criticism of Arse is that they set up and play for a point from the start.
I will go out on a limb and say the vast majority of us would have been happy enough to shut up shop at 1-1 with 10-15 to play, take the 1 point away from home and reset after the international break.

It’s the Gravenberch one that baffled me, even factoring in Konate was injured which I didn’t know at the time.
Once Chelsea were down to 0 fit CB’s I hoped Slot would move Grav back into the middle and try to put them under pressure but he didn’t. I just don’t see a single fucking advantage in what he did.

Last season we could have gotten away with that because we had stability to recover from injustices (except at Everton). But this season we’ve already been skating on thin ice and now any negative is getting maximised

That would be great, however extremely difficult when he seems to get thrashed by his national Manager during every international break with little regard for his recovery or ongoing fitness.

Flo is undoubtedly a top class player. But are we asking him to play in a system unsuited for him?

Wirtz as good as he is or can be wasn’t needed. The more glaring need was either another midfielder to spell Grav or more strength in the wide areas.

MacAllister should have been rested after the derby for the Palace and Galatasaray games but instead played in both.
A couple of weeks off might have done him some good.

We needed to replace the creativity lost from Trent leaving. But those areas as well.

What’s wrong with Macca? It has now become a real issue.

In hindsight we should have gone for either Barcola or kept Diaz one more season on better salary with the promise to sell him. I understand the confidence in Rio but he is still way too young to contribute regularly.

We’ve been saying that after each game he plays.

He’s not right. I don’t know what it is but clearly something is very off.

We didn’t need to replace Trent all of his bashers told us he was shit and Bradley was the man.

He didn’t really start training till early August then got another minor knock.

One of those things was true.

After 7 league games last year Diaz had 450 minutes Gakpo 207

This year

Gakpo has 645
Rio 10
Chiesa 63
Frimpong 79 with 6 of those classed as a winger.

And we don’t have a depth issue

Yet when I posted that Diaz was the player pushing us over the line to victories towards the end of last season and before we had won it, you came with stats about goals from Cody and Mo, who both from January/February onwards struggled in their all round game.

Talking about Mo, what did he have 3 chances, 1 was offside and didn’t hit the target with any?

Not just with Mo as we know he can turn a game in an instant i.e the cross for Isak, but players need to play on current form, if they are struggling then we need others to be able to step in, meritocracy needs to apply.

If you are a squad player and see someone off their game and they still play how does that affect their mindset?

Diaz scored 4 goals 1 in the defeat Fulham.
One in the West Ham win
One in the Spurs win
One in the Arsenal game

From New Year to end of season 5 goals 4 assists

Salah had 10 and 5
Gakpo had 5 and 3

So its simply not true as you were told at the time

Furthermore what has it got to do with this post.
