Post match: Chelsea v Liverpool (EPL 4/4/23 8pm)

Something about him not being able to use his passing in midfield is the usual response, because midfielders famously don’t create chances by passing or crossing the ball.

I’m with you though. Long term, I still think he has the most potential at right back. Short term, he could be our best option in that position. When the competition is Elliot and Henderson, surely it is worth a try, especially away from home.

Yeah Gomez played well. Forgot he played actually - which in the context of me remembering Konate, Matip and Tsimikas playing because they were all dogshit - actually reflects well on his ability to do the simple things right.

At this point in his career, RB is probably his best position. Would be nice if the club (and Klopp) acknowledge that by taking him out of the CB rotation, buying a new one, and letting Gomez be a more secure RB option for specific scenarios or games. Having said that the most important thi g is fixing the midfield, we get that right and suddenly Trent won’t be an issue defensively anymore.

Probably in the minority but I think TAA is a better passer of the ball than Thiago… Would it be a disaster to play him in a Thiago role me wonders

Certainly something worth trying. After all, what have we got to lose? :man_shrugging:

TAA is a unique player… how LFC get the best out of him is anyone’s guess. Too good to contemplate selling him, too poor to keep as full-back in our present tactical set-up

This is my gripe far too many times with some of our players.
FFS get the correct tools for the job. :rage::nerd_face:

I actually thought he was poor, or at least rusty. Failed to control the ball on occasion and just never really convinced me.

Then none of the back 4 did last night. They were so easy to get behind at times.

I really don’t want to sound down but I can’t get my head round the problems. If you looked at last night or in fact this season in isolation you’d honestly wonder what the hell we’ve been doing in the transfer market.

Did the kid get the shirt or no… hard to tell

Yes look at third pic it’s in his hand.

I don’t know if you care or not.

But you accused me of twisting what you said. You hadn’t read the whole post otherwise you would have understood, so I was just directing you to the part which would have clarified it for you. At the end of the day you’re making yourself sound a bit of a dope.

He’s a born winger/wingback if ever there was one. It’s worked in the past but sadly, our apparent rapid decline in midfield and central defence dictates that we cannot afford a luxury playe at fullback. Goes for Robbo also, but he at least can play on the back foot when needed. Trent can’t. That’s the brutal truth.

Blame who you like for letting squad strength slide. There’s more tha one candidate besides FSG.

Trent’s had a poor season by his standards. I think he can play on the back foot if needed or instructed to in a compact defense. He obviously is being instructed to play further forward, otherwise we’d see Klopp on the sidelines blowing a gasket at him for not being in position.

The problem is the midfield not being mobile enough to cover him now.

Which brings me to my next point. I can’t get angry at players who physically can’t do it anymore. That’s down to the management or owners.

After watching the City game I honestly thought they couldn’t win. To many players aren’t up to par including my favs. Am I disappointed, yeah for sure. Am I angry, yes very. However regardless I’m a REDS Fan. I love my team and recognize they won’t always win or have great seasons. Lots of first team players on the downhill now. Time to cut our losses and bring in fresh blood.

Absolutely spot-on.

Try explaining that to the spoilt, entitled, modern fan. All those (both on this forum and elsewhere) arguing that playing in the Europa League or Conference would somehow be below us should give their heads a wobble.

Alisson has addressed the supposed spat with Henderson. And like most would know, it’s 2 persons who are passionate and want to fix things. There is no riff. But of course the Captain has no right to show any passion and tries to fix things because he is Henderson.

He has a right.
But he needs to be 100% on his own game to exercise that right. And he frankly wasn’t.
The public display of anger is therefore unacceptable.

Yes it is. Hendo intervened in a row between Alisson and Matip (or possibly Fab). Go watch it again. He ends up tearing a strip off the outfield player when Alisson tells him what happened.

And I’ve already corrected my mistake about which bent prick was screwing us this week.

He should have instantly disapperated and materialised somewhere else as the ball hurtled at where he was standing, the useless prick. He should be replaced by someone who has a football manager score of at least +15 on the ‘magical powers’ attribute.

The problem with this is that is one of the super secret invisible attributes that you can’t see, so only find out if a player has it after you’ve signed them and thrown them into the first team
