Look at Frim down there being the bigger man. What a guy. Could you imagine if it were a Darwin?

They don’t sound very happy do they? If you listen very carefully around the midway point….it sounds like a poor duck’s being strangled to death.

A very satisfying victory which came despite several sustained periods of frustrating play. A few thoughts:

  • This is the best that Cody Gakpo has looked in months. He actually had his head up and looked to pass at times. He also ignored the overlaps and took bad shots, but that’s Cody for you. I’ll take the fantastic assist to Salah.
  • Florian Wirtz was poor for the most part - just got bullied off the ball and/or made poor passes. But he also made multiple excellent, incisive passes, including a pair to Alexander Isak that I’m convinced would have been belted into the top corner if Isak was back in full form and fitness.
  • On Isak - he’s still very obviously off the pace. And I don’t think there’s much to do other than to play him until he rounds into form. Maybe the World Cup will help him find himself again. In any event, I’m looking forward to seeing him in August 2026.
  • Curtis Jones was excellent. I really think he’s good enough to play regularly for us. He plays with no fear and he is quite adept at cutting passing lanes, ball control, and making smart runs. I wonders if our season would have a better outcome if he started for Macca. Alas, I think he’ll find himself being sold this summer.
  • Three cheers to Freddie Woodman for stepping in and being competent. Freddie is a hard worker and loves playing for this club, by all accounts, so I am pleased he got an opportunity to play and that he did well in a difficult environment. Feel bad for Georgi, who made an outstanding save on that header. Hopefully it’s a short term injury. Hopefully Alisson is fit enough to play in a week.

After the match, I saw some scenes from the dressing room. Despite a thrilling derby away victory, everyone in the dressing room looked glum as Arne offered his post-match team talk. I’m sure they were all knackered, but as I looked at some of their faces, it felt like some were thinking “ugh, stop talking Arne.” I’m probably reading too much from it, though.

I didn’t think they looked that glum, just the usual. Then again I was looking at one of the players who had his top off :see_no_evil_monkey:

Was watching the MoTD highlights just now when my 9yr old daughter walked into the room. She starts chanting “Liverpool! Liverpool! Liverpool!”. Screen then cuts to David Moyes waving his arms around about something and my daughter said " What’s grandma doing at the football match!"

They’d just won 3 points against a mid table team, not a trophy. No need for wild celebrations in the dressing room.

Look at Virg’s effort and position for their goal, both just as bad, they don’t seem to sense danger.

How many games have they played together? At times they look like strangers, no synergy, poor covering and worst thing lethargic in their recovery runs, especially in this game.

The truth always comes out of the wee ones, they say what they see. When the VVD scored he looked even older.

old fashioned me?? Personally, I don’t think cameras should be allowed in dressing rooms or in the faces of players during halftime (seen it in La Liga), and at some sporting events. I think stuff like that is private.

onto the game, really delighted and more to get the winner in added-on time. Must admit, though that I was frustrated with some of our lads trying to overdo their stuff. I think every player playing for our club, should have Paisley’s words drubbed into their mindset “ pass the ball, and we can discuss the other options later” ( sorry, cannot remember the exact quote, must be the ole memory cells running out of power)

That’s why I would have wanted him to stay to help our youngsters and the potential new players.
Look at Brighton they have benefited from our old players and Wellbeck the ex manure player.

I’ve really gone off Carra for a while now, but this is really making me dislike him!

Robbo said that he did not receive an offer from the club to stay.

I thought they would lose something moving from Goodison but they have indeed had a decent season but perhaps they have done in regards to these derby fixtures. Always hated watching a Goodison derby but I felt more comfortable watching this, can’t think why.

Perhaps Everton home record this season has not been exactly stellar. They are not used to the new home ground yet. Also, Hill Dick is not as suffocating as Goodison. I believe that their away form is actually better.

Just had a look yeah its slightly better away. be interesting if it evens itself out so maybe I was right in my view originally that it would hit there home form, hard to make a comparison really as you want to make it based on a full season with Moyes at the helm and you won’t get that as his last one at goodison was back way back when.

Deffo feels less on edge at the new stadium.
