Post match; Everton v Liverpool (EPL 19/4/26 2pm)

Critical 3 points and we also avoided humiliation.

First derby win at their new stadium!

However, that was kinda dire from both teams…the subs that slot made bar for the Rio one was just uninspiring…Fortunately, he didn’t throw the kitchen sink!

I lost my confidence with Mama’s injury. It killed all my joy today.

Have a look who I voted for in the poll? Curtis had a good game, but he did some awful stuff as well, and he was very lucky on occasion that his ball chewing in the our own half didn’t get punished.

Grav wasn’t that bad. He didn’t have a great game, but if we were doing a reverse poll he shouldn’t be troubling Konate, Isak or Van Dijk.

More than happy with the 3 points. Somehow we are 7 points clear of Chelsea.

I was pleased with Woodman when he came on. It’s not exactly the ideal way to make your league debut but he looked reasonably confident.

I also thought Jonesy did well even if he was hidden in a shadow for half the game.

So now you have to unclog the drain five more times this season.

Their goal was the kind that makes you pick up the TV and throw it out the window, and the game was an eyesore as usual, but the importance of this win cannot be understated.

Jones MotM with Gakpo an honourable mention for his best game in months.

I was really flabbergasted that Isak stayed on the pitch for so long. He was not even running back to help out defensively. Not only him, but I could see that Jones was also out of gas and was at a walking pace by 75th minute (I am still very critical about having Jones at right back, but credit to Jones that he fought right to the end).

Great result. I thought Gakpo in particular had a good game.

Anyone else spot the shirt pull on Pickford for the Virgil goal? It was an Everton defender :joy:

A double bonus at the death. Virgil powering it into the back of the net and Prickford on his arse floundering like big trout in the back of the same net.

That would e really risky as the drain pipe is not in the best condition.

Our 2 CB’s performances and not sensing danger and lacking urgency to cover is my biggest issue today, both just so lethargic.

God knows whats happened to Virg when we have the ball he just itrying to offer angles to receive the ball.

The only time Gakpo was good was the time he actually looked up and passed the ball right away to Mo.

A true fan would happily dismantle their entire plumbing system for the reds.

I’ve done it many times.

Curtis did well when coming in between Virg and Ibou to start the moves. He’s not a right back, so expected to have some difficult moments there. Everton targetted that spot many times with direct balls.

At times, Curtis also tries to be too tiday in trying to always play out his way form that position, which is a big risk. It;s ok now and again. But to always try to it will end up with the opposition being like a pack of hyenas to nick the ball, which they did.

When Frimpong came on, Slot decided to play him at right forward, so Curtis continued. Curtis shows that he can play in the deeper role in front of the defence. Should have rotated him and Grav much more this season.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that as bad as we’ve been this season, there are 15 teams worse than us.
