Post Match: Everton v Liverpool (EPL 24/4/24 8pm)

Drink Reaction GIF by Laff

Klopp hasn’t been in the best head space recently and even then he’s not going to throw any of his players under the bus…it was the Palace game where Hughes and Wharton absolutely bossed it and it was clear to pretty much everyone watching how badly he struggled. How many more times is the ā€œrecently back from injuryā€ excuse gonna wash?

Probably, although knocking one out after losing to the bitters is always going to be a difficult one.

Nah
He would just knock one off while looking at a piece of paper with ā€œI was right, wasn’t Iā€ on it.

You have the option of remembering 9 years of absolute glory, winning everything, which when Klopp arrived didn’t seem likely. If you’d been told that in 9 years time you’d have won these trophies, you’d had laughed.

This year was always above what we expected at the beginning of the season with a new team.
Could we go all the way and win it? Yes. Is it a pity we have not? Yes. Are we heartbroken? Yes. But no need for over reaction and take it on Jürgen or the team. We still went on to have a season competing for everything, when everyone expected a first step of Klopp’s 2.0 Liverpool rebuild that would take 2-3 years. Klopp saying he would leave, pushed this team to overachieve, but in the end it showed they didn’t have it in them yet and that Klopp knew what he was talking about, he is drained emotionally.

So please abandon any ideas of dismantling everything that he has set up for after he leaves, and just celebrate these era of 9 years with Klopp and the Liverpool fans, will you mate? I’d be really happy if this post picks you up even the slightest.

Perhaps he did but it doesn’t work?
We don’t know.

Ah right. So when Jurgen Klopp says after a game that a player did exactly what he was asked to do, rather than saying nothing, it’s him either being tired or being kind to his players. That’s the logic we’re dealing with.

A fucking shattered Klopp knows more about football that you, and if he says Curtis is fine, then I’ll take that.

Look at the post above by @TheSweetSilverSong .
We are blessed, really blessed to have had 9 glorious years of Klopp.

Blessed to have seen the best of Salah, VVD, Allison and many more.

Any whining about a team that has overachieved this season should stop now.

i see you all still at it the day after…

Absolutely I will…in time, and the time for reflection will be in his last days and we can all sit and share the joyous moments from the last 9 years but I don’t have the same temperament as you right now I’m afraid. 8 months of building up to something truly special, never seen before destroyed in 6 weeks and it’s been incredibly tough to take, no one feels it more than the fans.

I think I’m as destroyed as you, my friend. I’m just thankful I have enough on the tank to find solace, and to be back on my feet, and to not stop shouting my heart out until the last day of Klopp’s era.
And I’m just trying to carry you along with me, mate. The team and this special man deserve it, for the sum of this era, so don’t stick to the end of it.

Then we see where we are for the next chapter. Thankfully, there will be still enough jigsaw parts made by Jürgen to make us feel positive and optimistic about the next chapter.

How do you solve a problem like Darwin? We bought him to score goals right? It’s in his job description right? He’s supposed to be a striker right?

I love his effort and aggression. I hate his lack of killer instinct. The new manager will give him time for sure, but Klopp has given him two seasons worth of his coaching expertise. His patience with the player has been exemplary, but how many points has he cost us because of his wayward finishing?

It’s infuriating and it’s sad to see because he’s a very likeable player who gives his all for the team, but he’s a luxury we can’t continue to afford imo.

I still think he will become the player we want him to. His misses make him look like he won’t, but in reality he is much much closer to get there than it seems.
Time is still on his side too, and if Slot is the new manager, the attacking style will be very much suited to him too.

Just don’t give up on him, he needs support and belief as well, I know he doesn’t read the forum, but the general reaction of the fanbase reaches out and gets through to him, and can make a difference.

Well, if you want to give your name some credit, you have to get out of our comfort zone and take some risks…

Makes perfect sense given that he’s essentially playing the Wijnaldum role.

Doesn’t the former feed into the latter though? It’s a lot harder to put in the effort when nothing comes off…

I get your point. But new players, cheating clubs, atrocious officiating, and injury issues don’t account for four key losses in six games. I wouldn’t have been even a bit depressed if we lost those games due to dubious officiating, unfortunate injuries, or something beyond our control. We lost those games because we didn’t pour our hearts out in those games.

That’s what hurts most. We have won only a handful of trophies since I started to watch Liverpool in 1996. So, trophies aren’t the first thing on my mind. I was content when we lost two CL (and an EL) finals and lost out to the Cheaters for the PL titles. Because, they did their best.
