Post Match: Everton v Liverpool (EPL 24/4/24 8pm)

I’m not going to criticise any of the players, because I’ll be called a bellend or told I’ve got unhealthy issues with them. So, it was a brilliant performance from all the team and we’re going to win the league.

We’ve lost the fucking title TO EVERTON!!!

Not at the races in that game. DCL dominated Konate. We eventually backed off and looked to mop up the second ball, which worked much better.

Darwin with the best chance, but that’s been the story of the last few games really. Would’ve been better had he scuffed the shot instead of good contact with no precision. Diaz unlucky, and could’ve come out with a goal. Mo wasn’t in the game at all – I think Dom didn’t support the build up at all on the right (he was in high press mode, and Everton didn’t pass out from the back, so that was a waste).

I made a comment just at kick off that we needed to be in sync with how the ref flows the game. but when (especially in that first 20 minutes) the ref calls fouls just one way, it will tip the scales in Everton’s favour. That’s not to dismiss our lethargic at times performance, but for example, when Konate tries to get physical with DCL, it’s a free kick. Happens the other way, and it’s play on.

Some of the decisions were ridiculous, especially those when it’s normal football contact and we win the ball really well (like the one by Diaz). That happened several times in that opening 20 minutes as well. When you expend energy to win the ball, but the reward is a free kick against you, it will sour the mood, which Everton, to be fair, played off really good. They kept going down, and why not with the ref giving them everything.

The first goal was the sucker punch. Could’ve dealt with it better. So the season is running out in a whimper, but we have showed courage to stay in the title race for long, and we would still be in it if the refs called the basic decisions – Diaz against Totteham, Doku kung fu kick and Odegaard basketball being the most egregious.

Yet missed maybe our best chance. His work rate does seem to mask a bit of his profligacy. Remember, this run in would have looked and felt totally different had he not spurned a hat trick of clear chances in the draw against City.

I dont mean this as a criticism of him. More an observation of how so much of what is good about this team can also be one of the problems when its not going well. We’re very close to being an excellent side. I think it’s a pretty daunting job to figure out how to take the steps to get there next year.

Go for a walk. Or a wank. Anything. Just get off the forum and do something else for a bit.

you got me with this one… its a mike drop moment…hahahaha

Least they have something to put in the trophy cabinet.

Okay, the loss against the Bitters is a sore one.

I just want us all to rally round the lads and Jürgen and help them just get through the next 5 games.

The pressure is off the team now, maybe the lads will play with more freedom. Hopefully, we will get Top 4. The new manager, whoever he is, can start with a clean slate.

Arsenal and ManCity115 can slog it out one of them lose on goal difference. Hopefully in their preseason matches, their key players get hamstrings and groin injury.

It has been a great run, beyond expectations, with a new team. We managed to get ourselves in a title run, and had a good chance to win it just a few weeks ago.

Missing chances in a very uncharacteristic way these past few weeks has been our undoing in both the EL and the EPL trophy runs.
Yes, lots of factors there to add to that, but not putting the ball in the net as often as we normally would have these past few weeks, that was the catalyst.

Yep…it was a bit shit…I’m annoyed disappointed, disheartened, sad, …but as an LFC fan, I’ll be there tomorrow, next week, next month, next season…in fact till the day I leave this earth…but tonight…I think is the worse team to lose to…so I’m off for a few hours…and yes i hope the bitters have points deducted…the ‘new’ stadium collapses…and no one bails em our with money…thats just me being vindictive …

Preferably not a wank while out on a walk though. People have been through enough today.

I don’t think it’s mathematically possible for them to climb above Arsenal and City

Just dont combine those activities. Unless you have a treadmill at home.

EDIT:
Fuck sake - Im beaten to the punch for the third time today. I feel like a liverpool midfielder

hahahaha… you all are crazy!!

Looking at the positives, we are safe from relegation.

Totally agree. And now Klopp looks knackered and you can see it in the team.

Gone from doubters to believers to doubters again. What a wonderful journey it’s been. My best period by far as a fan.

We’re ready for a refresh, but we still have a brilliant young squad and will be interesting to see where the next guy takes us

There’s a treadmill at the gym…

We look short of energy.

To suggest that we are in need of some kind of systemic overhaul is a bit ridiculous. Our title challenge has ended (if that has what’s happened) on 24 April. That isn’t isn’t a side in a systemic crisis.

If we end up third, which we probably will, we won’t be tearing everything up and starting again.
