One correction: it’ll be on VHS.

A more accurate reflection of the last time Everton were relevant.

No love for Betamax?

Betamax was actually technically superior to VHS but more costly, which is why it didn’t take off.

Useless fact of the day.

offensively we did ok and on another day we could have scored 2, picknose had a good game and lucky at times.
i more worried on the defensive side of our game and how easily we get counter attacked. Millner contribution never to be underestimated but really at 37 he should only play when there are no other options . today klopp saw his mistake and moved him to the midfield because the sorry ones exploited him and could have scored

As a nil-nil match, I thought it was pretty entertaining. Lots of action at both ends. Both sides unlucky not to score. We did not play poorly and created some very good chances. Everton played waaaay better than I expected.

I think if there is one positive it is that we’ve played like this over the course of these early games and can still poiunt to a good number of chances we spurned in each game. If we can make small improvements with the ball the goals will likely come. But I suspect the improvements with the ball will have to be much better to start looking more solid at the back

That’s not a very high bar.

Boss knows best about what we are trying but my amateur eyes can’t see it. Someone else suggested trying playing Salah down the middle and that’s a good shout. Nunez can play wide as well.

Nah; he’s much better through the middle. Just needs time to settle and adjust to how we play.

Thanks mate. Really appreciate your thoughts. Good luck with everything in life ahead.

Then at least get Salahs starting position closer to goal, get Trent going on his outside.

Was Jones hurt again? He wasn’t in the squad. Millie was such a liability that if fit Jones should have been in there.

He’s only just come back to training a couple of days ago. I know Jota was on a similar timeline but presumably they view him as more robust and so are just a bit more cautious over reintroducing Jones

Have they? The only 2 fixtures we’ve had in common so far, we both drew against the Saudis, and they beat Palace where we failed thanks to some dodgy refereeing.

Not sure I’d consider Arsenal a rival.

Nunez looked better using his feet with the ball rather than heading it today…

He’s looked good in the air previously, but possibly a difference in the aerial ability of premier league defenders vs portuguese ones

I think Jürgen was saying that the starting position was correct, but he didn’t come in often/fast enough, and/or that he didn’t get enough support.

Mind you, he did also say that it’s quite hard because they’re not doing proper training sessions at the moment, mostly just recovery sessions.

I can buy that, but it raises the question of why is such a successful side implementing something new we havent had time to drill properly? I don’t buy the Nunez argument because we clearly intended to give him time to get up to speed and have continued with it even during his 3 game absence

I get the idea standing still is going backwards, but doing something new youre team cannot figure out and doesnt seem to play to their strengths takes you backwards even quicker

5th goalless draw in the last 9 away derbies - plus two more draws.

Result could have been expected and would kind of been ‘ok’ if it wasn’t for all our other bad results this season.

Betamax never took off, as there was more porn available on VHS
