Post match: Girona v Liverpool (UCL 10/12/24 5.45pm)

3 points is the main thing.

Robbo looked on form and Alisson looked back to sorts after looking a little rusty to begin with.

The ref seemed to have it in for Diaz. He turned away quite a few fouls and booked him for getting kicked. He even needed convincing on the penalty. Usually a stray boot is a fairly good indicator of a somewhat heavy contact.

Priming the boys for Fulham… There will be no place to hide

3 points, no injuries, clean sheet. Hopefully that already means direct qualification to round of 16.

Derby postponement enabled Slot to go strong, and the win justified it.

Most we will need is a point but I think GD will do it for us.

Let’s face it if it is confirmed over the next day or so it’s remarkable for a team who had the toughest of the fixtures of the four English sides and only Villa with them being new had the excuse.

We’ll finish with 24, just to be sure. Also because there is no one out there good enough to take points of us.

3 points, Alisson’s return and Elliott getting some minutes are the only takeaways out of a totally forgettable and drab affair.

Obviously, a lot more will be required against Fulham but a win away from home in Europe is nothing to be sneezed at.

I really like his honesty, hope the players take heed or he selects someone else in their place.

Our press was ok from the front but no one seemed to back them up Szob worked his socks off in a pressing situation along with Darwin, and the ball was played through to their midfielder with no one near him, too much distance between the forwards and midfielders

Dunno, Dom’s hair was looking nice as well.

McManaman has just enough alcohol pre match, so his words don’t actually slur their way through a sentence. Pity he has not realised yet, the alcohol is turning his brain into mush, which in turn, spews out absolute shite through his mouth - He is soooooooooooo annoying…!

Not a particularly inspired performance, but we get the point with an (in my opinion) slightly dubious pen.

Felt like we’re we’re going to find the goal somehow, but maybe the idea is that we got through in second gear and we can look forward to Fulham on Saturday.

Was seeing Santa tonight. Sounds like it wasn’t a bad one to miss, though a good away win nevertheless. How did Darwin play?

Not particularly well, sadly.

The poor lad appears totally lost at the moment.

Huh?

Both him and Diaz were pretty poor but Diaz won the penalty so gets the assist, Mo fairly anonymous for most of the game also, our two best players were Alisson and Andy.

Fat guy with a white beard. Gives out presents at Christmas. But before then parents are forced to endure busy venues with sad looking animals, stressed elves and shite food so their kids can sit on the fat guy’s knee and tell him if they’re naughty or nice :+1:

My favourite is going to see Santa late in December, Santa asks your kid what he wants, and your kid saying something rather on the large side that he has hitherto made absolutely no prior mention of. And Santa tells him he’ll do his best.

One Christmas I had to have a long chat to the effect that the 23rd of December is way too late to be saying new things, and while it was nice of Santa to say he would try, I am sure Santa has absolutely no chance of getting that at this stage.

Bezos has Santa in his back pocket…

Down to 14 teams that can match our 18 points. Regardless of results, one of Arsenal or Monaco leaves that set tomorrow. Barcelona-Dortmund will also take points off at least one of that remaining set.

In an odd way, Slot’s first CL campaign is reminding me of both Klopp and Rafa’s. The table is classic Klopp, smashing all comers. But tonight was much more Rafa, scrapping out an away win to start taking control of a group. Just a big group in this format.
