Post match: Girona v Liverpool (UCL 10/12/24 5.45pm)

Not a great performance but scraped a win,Slot did not seemed overly delighted in the post match, and fair enough, hope he read the riot act to the lads afterwards. He doesn’t seem the type to accept anything less than a decent effort.

I missed most of it and only watched the highlights of the first half.

Saw the last 25 and it was oddly a very professional display. I don’t think they even had a chance of note after we scored. Stats seem to suggest that.

I don’t think I’ve watched a more comfortable 25 minutes at 1-0 perhaps it’s in the knowledge that a point was fine or it was as it was just so comfortable.

Storm Darragh cancelled our grotto experience on Sunday, problem being my wife’s friend did not check her emails on a Saturday (she bought the tickets) and we rocked up to the place only to be asked by a puzzled teen why we were there and didn’t we see the email.

Do those upset kids lead you to think we’d seen the email, shagger?

Good. I see striving to always make us better as his main job.

Three points, clean sheet, Alisson back and imperious.

Still, Slot knows. The performance level wasn’t very good, and he is getting stuck into them for that. Is right Arne. Keep them on their toes.

Hopefully a couple of good signings in January will help with that too.

Onwards and upwards.

We look a tad leggy just as we enter the Xmas period.

Alisson was superb. The rest ok bar Nunez and Trent who who really poor.

But we are through and can play ressies in final 2 (although Slot doesnt seem to do that) and we dont have 2 extra games as in top 8.

Actually, at the beginning I was a bit unsure with Alisson. I thought he looked a bit rusty, but once he realised the lackadaisical numpties in front of him he stepped up a gear and was far more proactive.

There are a couple of areas that I still prefer Kelleher in. Firstly, he catches the ball as a preference rather than just punching it away, which both removes the threat and regains control. I’d also prefer him in a penalty situation.

Anyway, aside from that, it’s great to have Ali back.

Gotta disagree on the catching and punching, Ali is top notch when it comes to taking crosses and catching shots, Agree on penalties and I think Kelleher edges it with the ball at his feet.

Just watched Slot’s post-match. First time I’ve ever seen our manager be more negative than TAN!

If he’s ever more negative than Walshy, you’ll know we’re in trouble.

Forest…

We were all negative after that, but people seem (rightly) positive in here after last night.

I love Slot’s drive for perfection

Even though it’s a fool’s errand, as perfection does not exist, the fact that Arne isn’t afraid to call out substandard performances is laudable.

It’s the ‘drive for’ not the destination.

It’s obviously fine when we’re winning but it will be interesting to see how it goes down with players when we hit a tough patch. Will maybe separate the wheat from the chaff

Thing is he will be having conversations that are different to us.

Good result but not so good performance. Reminded me of the Notts Forest game earlier this season. Allison made some excellent saves as did their keeper. Will have to play much better at the weekend against Fulham.

Yeah, I doubt he’s going to repeatedly talk about korma.

Depends, maybe that’s what Núñez needs for everything to click, a hearty bowl of vegetarian korma…
