How pissed off does Hendo look?
He’s like I’ll sort you out after the game, just you wait!

Been a huge improvement in set pieces, credit where credit is due. Scoring goals and getting good chances on a regular basis now. Cant say enough how important it is we have this in our arsenal, we get so many set pieces.
That period of about 3-4 matches where we hit the first man is a thing of the past.
2-0 was a fair result.
However Inter we’re a better team than I thought. Kudos to them.
Never thought the boys were ever in any trouble last night… if Inter scored one felt we would have scored two
Inter played out of their skins last night… we played within ours
Bring on the Cheaters and lets put them to bed

Points over performance every time for me. I’ve said for a long time that as good as a 4 or 5 nil win is, it’s the result that matters. There have been a few games this season where we’ve toiled and had to work for the spoils. Burnley and last night being two such cases. I’m happy for this to continue.
Anyway, as Jürgen said in his presser, it’s only half time. We can’t put our feet up yet. Inter won’t give up without a fight and we need to be on our game in the return.
How good was Konate last night? I know Virgil was too, but yanno, he’s Virgil you expect it from him. It’s good to have such a quality back up waiting to take his chance and stake his claim to be starting.
Geez, you’ll have the superfans on me in no time for a typo!
Jurgen said himself we weren’t good enough with the ball, someone said in the ingame thread we were treating it like a hot potato which was spot on. As you say, despite us in an attacking sense not being at the races, defensively we didn’t give them a sniff, which was down to both center backs being brilliant.
Hendo did 44 passes after he came on, that’s more than Elliot, Thiago, Fabinho did when together… Which is a prime example that form is temporary, class is forever… We’ve come a long way that we could bring on Firmino, Diaz, Keita and Henderson… Game changers all over, competition is going to breed improvements all over.
I wondered if the nature of the game - it being an away match of a two legged tie - had anything to do with it. 0-0 wouldn’t have been a bad result, so might as well see what happens and Fab gets a bit of rest. Wonder if he’d have taken off Fab if we’d needed the win?
I think the in match thread comments need to be taken with a pinch of salt to be honest.
Reading it back now is not a fair reflection on the posters overall feeling.
Its emotive writing indicative off that person’s feelings at that exact moment in time.
I told Robbo to get royally fucked on more than one occasion, out loud and with a certain amount of venom… the cross he floated straight to the keeper to kill a good bit of build up and that ridiculous back heel attempt when he should have fizzed it straight across the goal come immediately to mind…
… but that was in the moment… now with a level head, i think he had a pretty good game.
Pretty sure i had a few choice words when Fabs went off, and when Bobby came on too… just thinking out loud.
Is difficult to remain measured in the moment
… for me at least
100%, in-game threads are full of emotion and full of different people from all walks of life and personalities, who all make big sacrifices to support this club. It’s very rare to see any comments that are really out of order, most are person X is having a bad game… Just some people are a bit more crass with their words…
It feels sometimes some posters don’t watch the game just the thread, wait for some critcism of a player and jump in to defend them… There are no shields given out at the end of the season for the most positive defender of a player in our supporter base. Everyone needs to chill, let people vent and air frustrations, call it out if it’s a ridiculous level.
My grandad is in his late 80s, he introduced me to Liverpool, took me to Anfield… He’s supported the club a fair long time, yet moans more than me when we watch it together… For all the person X can’t pass comments, when they pop up with a goal we celebrate it just like all the rest… And quickly forget the previous 70 minutes of moaning. That’s football.
That looked seriously tricky out there, fair play to Inter, I can’t think of another team that has pressed us so successfully this season other than City. Very chuffed with a 2-0 win! Great to see our bench making the difference as well!
You make some fair points here, and of course we all like a rant when watching the game. It just feels the balance isn’t there sometimes. If we aren’t 2-0 up by half-time there is wailing and gnashing of teeth, some people seemingly forgetting this is Klopp’s team, not Roy’s. It’s not being ‘super fans’ or ‘jumping in to defend’, just that the constant negativity is draining sometimes.
It annoys me even more at Anfield. Grumpy old men getting on the player’s backs if things aren’t going well instead of getting behind them. My granda was the same. Loved him dearly, but a pain in the arse to watch football with.
Anyways, think I’ll just avoid the match threads. As you say we’re all different
Agreed.
Isnt it amazing that ‘super fans’ is a derogatory term?
How being a supporter that dislikes the constant knee jerk criticism during games can be construed as a difficulty makes me wonder.
I usually catch up on comments at half time, or full time to see if any of my thoughts are consistent with other, am I reading the game or being led by commentary…
Last night some of the first half negativity was absurd.
Drawing in the San Siro, albeit playing less than 100% and in with a definite shout in the match.
You would swear we were being well beaten.
Call that criticism out and you are labelled a ‘super fan’…the irony!
I dont understand the need to write negatively during a match.
Of course its perfectly fine to critique any performance, but its during the match!!
We’re grinding out results without playing that well. Until we scored neither goalkeeper had that much to do. A good result to get a result at the San Siro though. A bit worrying to see Trent get the run around through out the game. Two central defenders were very good and I gave Konate my MOM.
I’m not sure. If you’re shouting at your tv for one of our players to fuck off is one thing.
If your conciously taking the time and effort to write that thought down, well that’s seems deliberate.
No you are right, there is sometimes an inbalance but I feel it goes both ways and both sides of the equation need to relax more in my opinion, myself included btw. I guess my view is Klopp and the players get paid a kings ransom to coach/manage/play football and part of parcel of that is to take a bit of stick (that they will never see) from normal normans who know 99% less about them about the game. Now this is very specific to some negativism on a forum, the shite on things like Twitter is just over the line and unacceptable btw.
The superfan jibe is just a response to the constant insults of knee jerking, bed wetters, whiners etc. So it goes both ways really. I maintain what I said that everyone on here from what I’ve seen all do love Liverpool, and many make sacrifices to follow the team so all sides probably need to cut out the hyperbole as it’s not nearly as bad as those words make out.
An example is and where I commented in the ingame thread is you threw out the little wind up “Arrogant bottle job” comment, now I’ve used those words before, you may not have been directing said comment at me, but it’s pretty inflamatory when read. Especially when for me the comments in-game yesterday didn’t seem to overstep the mark, most were that we weren’t keeping the ball well, we were missplacing passes and out midfield/attack seemed disconnected - Klopp in his post game presser even validates these comments and his substitutes show he wanted more control over the game.
The Trent is arrogant is a bit ironic really because he is but it’s not an insult. Arrogance is the flipside of confidence, it comes from a high competative personality. I do a lot of psychological evaludations as part of forming project teams and its a big part of that to see what makes people tick, what is their natural core etc. Someone who is competative will on a good day be confident, determined, have an unbreakable will to win, at total ease in high pressured situations… Yet on a bad day be complacent, arrogant, disinterested etc. So what makes Trent one of the most gifted footballers in English history is also the thing that can cause problems on a bad day. So when I’ve said Trent is being arrogant it’s when I think he’s gone into the Roy of the Rovers mode and it’s to a detriment to the team during that specific game… Doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s one of the best players I’ve watched for this club.
I think that’s the “logic”, but doesn’t the evidence suggest that it’s actualy the other way around in that smaller teams are better able to use their squad since teams like us would rely on superior fitness to wear them down…
Cheers for this, somehow I had missed it.
It’s a good thing for the freshness of players and hopefully reducing a few injuries. It’s a good thing for the spectacle too, as with five subs managers have more playing resources to put into a given game, so presumably the energy levels will be up in chasing the result you want. It’s good for teams like us too, as with our current attacking resources (hard to say who will be here next season, mind) we will have more minutes to spread around.
Good point on Henderson’s contribution, a few posts up. He looked at it, and when he plays like that, it helps to drive the team on. I’m not sure why he didn’t start, whether it was form or just easing him back and managing his time a bit? Anyway, with genuine options in there, it is right that everyone, including the captain, has to perform and keep fighting to keep their place in the side.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Dyche voted against his own interests, in a cutting-your-nose-off-to-spite-your-face sort of thing. He would much rather have something that was bad for Burnley and Liverpool, rather than good for Burnley and Liverpool.
When the powers that be get it right, they want to make the game better for everyone. Small managers, like Dyche, have the instinct to drag everyone down closer to their level.
Championship can’t come soon enough.
