Ok so I was incoherent and annoyed. It’s just repetitive. You know what will happen. And it did. If I saw any improvement. Any pattern I would get it.
I know he did not win it with Klopps team. But now he has the chance he is not showing it. If there is someone else? I am not sure about Enrique, Negalsman.
Salahs tantrum should not be tolerated and I fear he’s played his last game for us and I never could see his time end like this, it is a travesty of the highest order. And he should leave either January or in the summer. That type of behaviour should not occur.
But.. I have to say I do have some understanding for him. Of course the most obvious thing to say when benched is put your head down and earn your spot in the lineup. And then you have Cody being much worse than Salah has been, and he keeps getting picked every game. Of course its not that black and white, but with all the talk from Slot how players minutes need to be managed when we have 3 games inside a week, you’d guess that two attackers struggling for form would both get a start to show their worth but no, Slot starts one attacker three times and he doesn’t play well at all. We all have seen Salah put in a defensive shift in the past many times so its not about him not being able to work in the same formation as the three games previous.
It really does seem that something is going on behind the scenes and the higher ups are trying to offload Salah in January or just wild incompetence from Slot, but my feeling now is that I want the player and the manager out.
Right…u all have Sunday off…Monday morning every team member in…get a chair and sit down…everyone has 5 mins to spout there grievances…but keep all discussions in house…forfuckssake
Except Mo isn’t going to be here for half of December and January whereas Konate will be. What’s the point in trying to find a solution to our issues with Mo central to it if we’re then left with a huge hole a couple weeks later when he goes and Slot has to find another fix.
No fan of Konate’s performances this season but with all the injuries at the back there’s far fewer options to bench Konate for.
Think Slot has tried to be pragmatic. He needs Konate to play himself into some kind of form but doing the same with Mo would just set him up nicely to go to AFCON rather than to help us through this next period.
What this is doing though is highlighting how badly we handled the Guehi deal. It needed to be sorted earlier or we moved onto someone else.
Konate shouldn’t be starting, he’s cost us on too many occasions this season. The problem is, Gomez can’t play every game, that’s already been proved over the last week. The club’s failure to sign at least one centre back in the summer and allowing Quansah to leave, was negligent and has created this situation we’re now in. That’s why the hapless Konate plays most games.
Fuck that. Get your chair, sit down, hear some home truths because none of you are playing to the standards expected and spouting off to the media is only going to make it harder for us to rescue something from this season.
I didn’t equate them. You did. You said seeing Konate start would do Mo’s head in.
Slot has two Centre backs and Joe Gomez. Now, anyone who knows me knows I love Joe maybe a little more than I should, and I’ve been calling for him to start, but you have to see this from Slot’s point of view as a coach.
Joe Gomez has a track record of breaking down as soon as he starts playing. So Slot is entitled to be wary of a scenario where he drops Konate, starts Gomez, Gomez breaks down, and he has to bring Konate back into the team, only this time with his confidence further eroded from getting dropped.
You could argue that Gakpo should be dropped ahead of Salah, and that would be more reasonable position to take - they are at least both attackers. But here is the problem with that. Gakpo will at least put in a defensive shift. He will track back. He’s not always great at it, but he does at least understand that - unlike Mo - he has to do some defending, rather that floating around , decorating games, excused from the dirty side because he does the beautiful stuff.
Sadly for Mo, an output merchant who does nothing else is extremely difficult to justify carrying when the output dries up.
Will that be before leaving for the airport, on the plane or in the hotel after arrival? They fly to Milan tomorrow for Tuesday’s game against Inter. I suggest telling them to forget their day off today, because they don’t deserve one and get them into Kirkby to sort this toxic mess out.
that’s the only reason I wouldn’t drop Gakpo and also because he’s a big lad and he can potentially put himself about in the physical tussle. Mo can be physically strong when it comes to attacking situations but he almost never applies himself like that a few times that he’s been back defending. my point was about who is the most obvious cause of the malaise. Going down 0-1 game after the game after game has become a real burden on the team and more often than not it’s Konate who is responsible I understand the whole thing about fit centre backs but at some point you need to take that risk because you are in danger of losing the team, losing the season, and for Arne Slot, losing your job
