Post match: Leicester v Liverpool (EPL 28/12/21 8pm)

Well again, it boils down to the structure of our midfield. Most of our players are trained to work in a midfield 3. However, all midfield players bar for Thiago are only effective in RCM in a midfield 3.

Switch to a midfield 2, I can only think of 2 players that has the ability and intelligence to do it. Fabinho and Thiago. Hendo will flop spectacularly in a midfield 2. Keita will also flop in a midfield 2.

That is why some people are clamouring for midfield trio of Fabinho (DM)-Keita(RCM)-Thiago(LCM) due to the good mix of technique, vision and defensive positioning in the midfield. It also offers Klopp the tactical flexibility to switch to a 4231 without fucking up the defensive side of the game.

From what I am seeing, we need a younger version of Thiago (23-25 years old) or at worse another younger version of Gini Wijnaldum, which I think will be procured from outside the club.

Leicester managed it and guess what? They somehow won the game tonight.

Not to disagree with your point (I generally think we look better on a two match a week schedule than one game a week) but comparing to other sports isn’t really fair. Tennis players, for example, condition their fitness toward peaking for a few intense tournaments a year.

In real time I was fucking fuming with Hendo for ball watching as they played it round him and Trent… … but on the replay I saw what you saw… and was even angrier… just a poor goal.

Kostas on the other hand… after we’d been done down Trents side again… just getting his toe to it to stop methhead getting another one…very nice…we like Kostas

Fair enough, and they get plenty of breaks during a match too. But still…there must be some psychology in telling young elite footballers that they could play every day, rather than then getting the impression from constant media briefings that they can’t cope

Totally agree. We such a rhythm team it’s not even funny. We much more effective playing every other day

I like tmsikas but fuck me does it make you appreciate Robbo or what.

Well that was a major disappointment, I was imagining by how many we would score and we lose. Matip was tremendous and Tsimikas good but the rest didn’t seem bothered. Away to Chelsea next :expressionless:

That was a load of old cobblers, maybe went out thinking it would be a doddle and paid for it…very likely with the title.
For that to happen we need a couple of serious favours done and maybe if we play like we can.
Whatever the underlying reason it was one we should have won… Annoyed about Rodgers beating us,though.

Not sure what I dislike more, the performance or the new in match thread system. MOTM, the new in match chat system, which I dislike.

If this is what we get when we play with a break, then I definitely want a game every 2-3 days.

Is the conversation from chat room there to be viewed or is not saved.

It’s there, and can be looked through.

We are paying the price for loyalty.we need or spend a few quid on better players.

Van Dijk thought he was a spectator with the goal, did nothing, a lot thought they could do it at 75% , guess what it failed.

Sunday Chelsea away a must win for both sides and January without 3 of our best players, I’m getting the feeling that our best chance on a major price this season is the CL.

Nah, it will be Mendy, oh wait ….

I feel sorry for Chelsea after tonight. They aren’t going to know what’s hit them on Sunday.

When the football gods conspire to make you play the same team twice in a week you rarely win both games. (Confucius)

Reminds me of a mate of mine… though not football related.

We looked a lot more dangerous near the end playing balls into Sadios feet in the box then having runners off, unfortunately they scrambled well and covered the resulting shots and crosses
