Post Match: Liverpool Man City (EPL 6/2/21 4.30pm)

Ok…so it’s official we are in a crisis. Tin hats on. Wait for the cavalry to come back and save whatever is left of our season.

To be fair we were holding on pretty well until they decided to come out and play football in the second half. Alisson was shit today…all game and that didn’t help. He has a habit of fannying about at the back but he usually gets away with it because he had a big Dutchman to cover his back. It’s been coming for a while…maybe he will learn? Hope so

Other than that…I don’t think Thiago has added anything, our subs are woeful and Juergen doesn’t look well…

Could it get worse…probably. The important thing is that eventually we will sort this out. Just not yet but maybe soon…keep up your spirits.

I think Klopp isn’t looking well because we’ve been shit in 8 of our last 10 games.

It’s relegation form isn’t it (at least we have the 40 points) The subs were atrocious today, but evidently something isn’t right, he tried to backtrack on the mental tiredness thing he said saying it was language issue but I watch them and they look how I felt about 5 years when I burnt out mentally and emotionally.

Irony is maybe the mid winter break worked we just didn’t notice because we were crap after it.

Just for a bit of perspective, that’s the first time we’ve conceded more than 1 goal in the PL since the Goodison travesty, 18 games ago.

What do you all think of Souness’s viewpoint here?

Souness is the only pundit I’d be arsed to listen to. Not sure why he thinks those players never got any credit though.
Maybe he should wait until Tiago’s played a few games with Hendo and Fabinho in midfield?

I think I’ll self isolate for a while, even though I’m Covid free. Just to avoid any smug Evertonian’s.

Are they above us now?

Not quite, but they have 2 games in hand, I think.

…and now for next season!
Title well gone and top 4 will be a struggle based on the last couple of outings.
Can’t imagine why he would buy two Centre halves then not use them.
Weakens the midfield and it shows!

How the fuck do teams get 2 games in hand? (I suppose 1 of them is tomorrow)

Edit no not tomorrow Wednesday.

One was the City game that was conveniently postponed because of City players breaching COVID restrictions. I can’t recall what the 2nd game was.

Just the City game they have one midweek vs Spuds.

So again Klopp didnt play the new CBs after making such a deal of it, not even one; he isnt thinking straight at all is he.

He certainly wasn’t thinking straight when he made those substitutions today.

Glad I missed it tbh; yep doesnt sound like Klopp knows his best 11 anymore, and with Gini inevitably leaving, Thiago to fill that space, I think this might go on for a while. He should be setting up closest to our last best 11 and now he has 2 new CBs he needs to play them to at least strengthen a depleted midfield. At the moment defence and midfield are both out of whack. What does he have to lose, we keep losing and are toothless in our current set up.

I expected Kabak to start today, releasing Henderson back into midfield. If he had started, it couldn’t have gone any worse than it did. Then, after dragging ourselves back into the game, JK, inexplicably, takes off Thiago and Jones, replacing them with Milner and Shaqiri. From then on, we were overwhelmed in midfield.
But then Alisson has a meltdown and gifts them two goals. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it, it’s fucking unbelievable.

Do I have to! :persevere: Yes I think Klopp is having a wobble. It might be spreading around the dressing room. He needs to go back to first principles, those that he came in with, and he should be alright. But this season is crashed and burned.

This is controversial but I think we have fckd up with the Wijnaldum Thiago swap out. Yes Thiago looks ace on the eye, but Wijnaldum is far more effective for how we play. To be assessed, but not looking good for us. It will be no consolation for me to be right once Gini departs and leaves a huge dependable and industrious hole in our MF.
