Post Match: Liverpool Man City (EPL 6/2/21 4.30pm)

I think you should, just in case you might think people have exaggerated what Alisson did, twice! I’ll just say, it’s equal to anything that Adrian and Karius ever did.
Regarding Gini, I think we’ll just have to get used to the fact he’s leaving and needs replacing.

im reading poetry to get through things (I’ve avoided the superbowl for 30 years of living in the states and not even today’s performance will change that)

Fabinho just escaped my mind to be honest not being fickle. Fabinho already has my vote for our player of the season alongside maybe Hendo. So I give him more sympathy for usually doing well in an unfamiliar role hence the less criticism. I want the best for Trent, can easily be England’s best ever right back if he wants. I want to see us do well but for both to happen. He needs to improve defensively and get back to his best offensively aswell.

Going by your name I don’t blame you.
I remember the Pats and for that matter the Jets, Bills and Dolphins well.

Tactically we shouldn’t let players into the box if possible which made the fact that we were backing off strange. Hendo and Fabs are always going to struggle in the box considering their inexperience and knowledge of how to do it in midfield.
Fabs is a great player had a few poor games but usually when coming back from injury. Trent just gets far to much flak for how important he is to us and his age, Jones as well.

As bad as today was, and it was bad (even at 1-1 we never looked like scoring again) it’s no harm to reflect on a few things.

Injuries have fucked us royally.
We were coping fine and then we weren’t. But these lads haven’t become bad players in the space of a month.
4-1 at home hurts, but look at results from other games involving other teams, City battered at home by Leicester, utd at home to spurs. It happens and today it happened to us.

We can go two ways now. Either feel sorry for ourselves and let the season get away from us and get in a fight for top 4. Or we can take it on the chin and be brave and make brave decisions. We need to start at least one cb in cb. At least one. That’ll allows us to strengthen midfield.
Thiago is still adjusting to us and vice versa. Go back to basics and take him out for a game or two (to clarify, I am not blaming him in any way, he is world class but at the moment it’s jarring playing styles) if we have the personal. See above!

If these lads and this coaching set up want to regain respect / fear factor we need to dust ourselves off, stop feeling sorry for ourselves and fucking get out on the pitch and ram the criticism down the throats of all the doubters.

We will be back challenging, of that I am sure.

TAA was gash for the first goal too. Just kicked it right back to them, no composure.

Poor Ally coping it from half baked fans. Two mistakes in what a 100 games. FFS give the guy a break. We will turn this around.

Very true and hindsight is wonderful but he’s looked a little disinterested to me for a few games, lazy passes, dwelling on the ball etc.

This performance might be the kick in the nads he needed. Hit the reset button as someone said earlier.

Didums.

For everyone banging on about us being shit, not knowing why we are playing so bad and why Klopp didn’t play our new CB’s,is it really that hard to understand???

This isn’t the same team as last season,so stop judging them like they are,we’ve go too many players out injured for a start,we’re not a team with individual star players who may pop up once in awhile with a bit of skill to win a match, our main strength is THE TEAM,i’m fed up of saying this but…when you take away a part of it it fails a little, you take out 6-8 of them on a regular basis, move the rest into different positions and not give those left fit to play enough rest (which is happening now),it’s going to fail against the best teams at times, with all that happening, the team and Klopp should be applauded and backed for keeping us in the position we are in now,not slagged off by their own supporters everytime we lose a game, asking whats wrong with us,when our issues are staring us right in the face

As for not playing the new CB’s,these 2 new guys have zero premiership experience,i’ll say it again ZERO experience playing in our team, even with a full starting 11 with a fit Gomez ,VVD or Matip we can lose against Man City.Do you really think Klopp was going to risk throwing them into this must win game,(knowing we could possibly lose the game anyway with our poor form),throwing them to the lions and killing their confidence before there LFC careers even started, now if they’d have been Upameccano or Koulibaly types then i’d understand why people would be pissed off cos they didn’t start but they are totally different levels of CB’s.

I think a bit of perspective is needed from now untill the end of the season,we’re going to hit bad patches this season, untill our first 11 are back in place and important injured players come back, top 4 is probably the best to hope for in the league and nowhere near out of our reach,we still have a decent enough squad to get that job done.

As a side note, this is almost the same Man City team that finished 18 points behind us and lost 9 games last year and look where they are now, what fucked them up last year?? oh yeah, poor CB’s and playing there best DM at CB.I wouldn’t write our team off just yet.

Maybe Thiago being rubbish is the same reason Gini has been off the boil, no Hendo or Fabinho in midfield.

Hopefully a week with Kabak and Davies moves one of them back into midfield, we’ve yet to see Hendo and Thiago in the middle I believe? And that’s what we were looking forward too.

Does Klopp want us to see that?

Ummm… ( 10 characters )

I assume he does but we’ve had 3 long term injuries to our defenders, a week ago I would have picked that team if I could.

I hope we move Henderson at least back next week mind, never looked great defensively together him and Fabinho.
