Post Match: Liverpool Man City (EPL 6/2/21 4.30pm)

Rather have Davies and Kabak at the back next time getting game time and trying to fit in, sadly bar Jota that’s about as good as we can hope for this season.

Just can’t see us improving on this… can’t even say sack the league off and concentrate on the CL because it’s not really like we would turn a performance in.

Pretty much at last chance saloon now, if we don’t pick up soon the Top 4 will be gone.

The scoreline didn’t reflect the 90 minutes, but it was the scoreline.

We gave them a game until the keeper had two brain farts.

Jones was decent in the main, though he wasn’t tracking the City midfielder for one goal.

I trust in Klopp to find a way out of this, although I have to say that bringing on Shaqiri did seem really odd.

The lad has talent, but he just isn’t mobile enough and shouldn’t really be on the pitch against mobile opposition and/or when our midfield is so weakened.

Let’s hope we can reset now. Get one of the new centre backs in, get Hendo into midfield, and hopefully get Jota back. A front three of Jota, Mane and Mo should be deployed as soon as possible.

but i will say this… milly has no business being in the starting 11. but injuries, form etc have forced klopps hand

And another tough game coming up Vs Leicester !

I think now we just have to fight for top 4

Get Kabak and Davies in a CB…not that arsed if it takes some bedding in, the titles gone.

Get Hendo and Fabino back into midfield and give us a fighting chnace with a proper fucking lineup with players in the right places.

Robbo and TAA need to find that attacking form once again…easier said than done of course…

The pace…where the fuck has the pace gone…few times today we had a chance on the counter, we get in the final third and just fucking pause…movement seems non-existent.

Royally fucked off

Keeper was nervy right from the off. Seemed to lack concentration. Other than that we did OK. I think we’re really suffering at the back and that seems to impact all the way up the pitch. Also, too much stopping and passing sideways/backwards when we have a chance to get into the opposition penalty area.

The taki one and how he has been treated really bothers me to be honest… Bobby for me is no longer a starter but yet again, who do you start in his place

Wasn’t today an issue he had 2 options.

I think that’s absolute nonsense. The situation in defence has been a massive problem, but we went into the season with 3/4 centre backs, and lost three of them to season ending injuries. That’s not something that could have been foreseen in the summer.

Jesus. He’s was brilliant against Spurs and West Ham.

Never thought I’d hear the name Karius mentioned in the same sentence as Allison :flushed:

Ah yes, Bobby got two.

The irony of that game is we played Mane on the right. We did something different it worked… Never seen again…

Went 442 with a diamond v’s West Ham, win, don’t see it again…

This is my worry, Klopps default isn’t working and he refuses to change it unless forced to by injuries. His lack of plan B is my biggest worry really. What actually did he change today? What did he change v’s Brighton? City shifted their tactics 3 mins into the second half today. We just did the same over and over.

Totally agree, we have very short attention spans, what we can’t do is play Milly in 3 consecutive games.

I don’t think he did. Maybe you can call Kabak an option on FIFA, but in real life you can’t throw a lad in who’s barely had a training session against the best team in the country on form.

yes mascot he was but he is still a bench player who did really well in that role last season

Not quite; it’s 9 points from nine league fixtures since the Palace romp.

Utterly shocking form, all the same.

Today after the Fab penalty, we changed. The attacker was more than positive running with bal from teh tocuhline all the way into the area, with our players backing off.

Then there were the lukcy deflections that kept going Man Cuty;s way. Like the first goal, a few seconds before, TAA intercepts but goes perfectly in the City player’s stride again.

We’ve done so well up till end of the year to cover for the defensive crises. I would still argue that no other teams would;ve been able to do that. But now is the time to dig deep and get prper CB onto the pitch.

Mascot, we ain’t gonna agree on this at all. Fabinho is NOT a CB, he’s a defensive mid who should be playing that position. He’s our best defensive mid and for 2 seasons has been arguable the best at his position. Fabinho is great across the turf but is poor in the air and today he was a shambles. He and TAA were garbage in defense. They were dancing all over the place giving Raheem free reign to do whatever he wished. Truly awful.

I assume you see Milner train in close quarters every day of the week to come to that conclusion?

He didn’t start today either so I don’t get your point to be honest.

To be honest the only really questionable decision made at this club was not replacing Lovren. But then not even Mystic Meg could have predicted that you would lose 3 centre halves with season ending injuries before the half way point was reached. And that’s on top of you standard run of injuries and a fixture list that is just bonkers and the usual level of officiating the club sees.

So we are in an unprecedented mess not of our own making and there was little we could do to prevent it, or manage the risk.
