Post Match: Liverpool Man City (EPL 6/2/21 4.30pm)

Seriously what is Thiago supposed to do? Its a genuine question, he makes the passes that we know he can between the lines, once he does that the onus is on the next player to do something positive with the ball.

One thing I will call him out on is his shit tackling, looks to be trying too hard.

It’s not hindsight but I’d have played him.

Winner for bowl head of the year award in my book.

It seems City are always winning that league as well.

Apart from his pace, rash challenges and clumsiness. :joy:

Williams is just a skinny boy.

Take stock for how long though.

Man City will win the league. We need to regroup to be sure of top four. I think we will. CL anything can happen, as the most consistent team doesn’t necessarily win that one. We have as good a chance as most…

Today’s game we were doing ok. Not great, but holding our own, which given the challenges we have had, and the level of opponent, wasn’t too bad at all.

Then Alisson did his Karius impression and that was that.

Gutted, but strangely not as angry as I might have been previously. It is perhaps because I don’t have much hope for the league this season, though obviously want to finish top four, and see how we go in CL - hopefully a long, long way - and basically get some players back, refresh, and get cracking next season.

We better right this ship quickly. Otherwise if we don’t make top 4… Playing for LFC and Klopp won’t be very attractive to top players anymore…

Positive note: we still have a shot at a CL trophy. Anything can happen in a knockout tournament.

Because Fabinho looked scared to death Sterling running at him.

I know you want Thiago to do well but he isn’t performing the way you think he is. Everybody can’t be wrong.

One message to Kloppo and their lads (and a reminder for ourselves):

It’s time for resilience. We all know how good you are. Class is permanent, and you have it in spades. For different reasons, this season looks like a nightmare, but you all, we all, will eventually get out of this.

So, now is a time to work hard, to do what you can, for us fans to do our jobs as supporters and support you. You WILL get out of this, it’s only a matter of time before you consistently recover your true footballing level. That will be a moment of joy for everyone bar the opposition.

Until then… resilience, lads.

I wonder which of our players got racially abused tonight?

We were absolutely pooh after the subs, I don’t think we touched the ball once in midfield once Milner (far too slow to even consider against Shitty even as a sub) and Shaquiri (what is defending?) came on. All we did was pass back to Allison all Shitty had to do was press. Klopp handed it to them. FFS we dominated for a long period in the 1st half playing quickly in the correct direction, we gave up that momentum for what?

This season was always about dealing with adversity. Sadly we didn’t understand that sufficiently.

Yes, there’s no advanced planning that would forecast losing your entire center backs.

Never mind the fairytale from Mascot and his co-travelers, even in the best of times it was a gamble to go with only 3 CDs, with the option of moving your world class DM into CD.

LFC football under Koop as Ljinders explained is connected from back to front in a way that it was malpractice to take this kind of risk. A malpractice whose extent becomes even more jarring given we just spent 2m to get two CDs, and only when forced by loss of Matip for the season.

2 fvcking million!!!

Perhaps being in top four was always the goal…

You want to put 2 players we haven’t a clue about in before the rock that is Phillips and the wonderboy that is Williams?
If Klopp had had the balls to do that we could have Hendo and Fabs covering upfield for them with Thiago pulling the strings and since a while now. eliminating some of our less worthy players. Just need a solution for Firmino, oh wait he’s been bogged off to Saints so he can show everyone that it wasn’t him who was crap but the technical and tactical inability of our coaches.

I wonder what was said at half time for us to become soo negative?

For a full 2/3rds of a season, noway. I for one can not keep doing that when I see us like in the 2nd half today in what really was the most important game of our season so far. Klopp has got to do something about form Firmino has been shit for far too long and playing our best midfielders in defense is stupid. Then there’s our forwards who in half our matches take 40 shots to get one on target and in the other games can not muster a shot.

What would you do? Play a couple of kids at CB and Origi up front?

I think it’s time he got hard on selection too many on a free ride for my liking.

You surely want to rethink this. The same coaches who ended our 30-years league trophy drought? Who won Big Ears on a shoestring budget in comparison with our main competitors? These same lads are now suddenly ‘tactically unable’?

I think I’ve seen it all now.
