Ah, probably misunderstood then on connecting your captain stepping up point with this one. Apologies if it weren’t related.

Winning while resting Virgil was a positive, but I was hoping we might see Konate, although Gomez does deserve a run-out. Wondering if we might see Ibou during the Carabao Cup?

Said to a friend it might be VVD and Konate at the weekend I guess we will see.

Maybe Klopp feels more comfortable with VVD beside him.

Apologies in advance for my comments in the Porto pre-match thread. I think they’re shit as well - I mean, Grujic starts for them ffs. I’m going to be extra arrogant.

Just checked that Atletico have started strong domestically as well it seems. And Porto along with Atleti is unbeaten as well. Some group this is. It’s a long way ahead, winning the next two games would be very crucial. Especially Atletico who’ll be happy with a draw.

We pretty much dominate them the whole match, not even close from Milan. Aside from that 5min lapse we had, the game in the bag. Both Milan goals were against the run of play, and we committed too many players forward. Fab isn’t quick enough to chase back at the best of times, he’s more of a pass intercepting machine and a tackler. I feel Naby did ok, but at the same time I felt he doesn’t offer much attacking and now I kind of know why the gaffer prefers Elliott over him. Elliott has that X-factor in him that makes him a constant threat going forward. Maybe Naby is still feeling his feet after such terrible luck with injuries, but I feel this might be his last kick at the can under Klopp and he needs to grasp this opportunity asap.
The backline did very well, so happy to see Joe getting back into action and doing well. Matip is tremendous for us at the back, I would say he’s right now the MVP for us aside from MO. I really hope he has an injury free season and make all his doubter eat their hats.
The one gripe I have with tonight’s game is I wished Klopp would give Taki and Konate their chance to come on and get their feet wet for the season. If the game weren’t so close I am sure Konate would’ve seen some minutes, but Taki I felt should’ve came on for Origi. At the moment Mane isn’t on form, yes I know he scored last game, but he’s not same Mane in previous years. Since Mane didn’t start, I would’ve put Taki on instead and save a fresh Mane for Palace. Also, Taki would’ve provided better link up with Jota and Mo.
Anyhow, fantastic win, 3pts in the bag, let’s get another W on the weekend and keep the ball rolling.

So who’s that lucky CB for that game in your line up?

3 games in a raw for Matip. Beautiful assist from Origi. Naby not injured. Henderson with a nice volley. Win at Anfield. What a night.

Home games are vital and if I’m honest that Milan side got lucky.

Arrogance or not, drink or not they came for fuck all and got it.

Anyhow 2018-2019 won 3-2

There are a couple of place names in Alpine regions where German is spoken that have the root verb ‘wanken’. It means sway heavily from side to side. Umm… Not that other type of up and down motion you were thinking of.

No chance Konate starts a league game. First appearance will be Norwich in league Cup.

Yup, not going worry about tonight, even at 2-1 I expected we would come through if we played like the first and we did.

Same goes for Chelsea, get sharper this team will be fine. He changed a lot tonight and it’s probably the best they have looked especially going forward. You can say the first is lucky but flip it and Milan got lucky on deflections at least three times before.

One word on the refereeing: I thought it was spot on, wasn’t it… Several key decisions to take, all perfectly correct. Give me that kind of refereeing all day long above these lunatic nut-cases in the PL…

good three points… decent performance…did my criticism in the in-match thread…

I did appreciate how strict he was on where the free kicks were taken and was consistent on it all game.
