Post Match: Liverpool v AC Milan (UCL 15/9/21 8pm)

Some concerns

  1. Origi is actually better than Mané and Jota at the moment.

  2. Four of the five remaining games are against two bunch of twat.

Too small a sample to judge. Jota is actually playing incredibly good. He seems to have the highest conversion ratio, at least by looks of it.

Porto should be 6 points I reckon.

If we played at 80% of what we did last night we’ll be ok.

Madrid is a notoriously difficult place to go. They key there is not to concede.

I am desperate for us to fucking annihilate them at Anfield though.

I’d agree,

Jota is playing well without having that slice of luck for the ball to hit the net.

Mane though… a though watch. Playing like somebody completely devoid of confidence.

That 1 on 1 in the last part of the match. I was never confident of him scoring. He isn’t that great when he has too much time to think about what he needs to do next. Give him the ball for a one touch finish like Leeds and Burnley and he does ok. (That being said the open goal miss v Leeds was also shit)

Probably an element of trying too hard.

Mo Salah though - we need to be bending over backwards to ensure he signs a new contract

Jota is having shots and having chances, I always say that’s the important thing. That bleak period last season we were creating nothing.

Only game where we haven’t created lots is Chelsea.

An observation on how the post match discussions here aren’t much about the officials/ refs in European games than in our PL games. Evident on how bad the referring situation in PL is.

On reflection I don’t think that 3 minutes of madness happens with Van Dijk playing… Gomez was good for the most part especially considering how long he’s been out but he needs to take control in those situations and keep the back line in shape.

Salah has been on fire this season. Just so consistently good. Seems to love the club, the fans, his teammates. Be gutted if he left

If he ever leaves the only 2 we should be satisfied with replacing him are Mbappe and Haaland

Exactly !

I couldn’t believe it when I saw he had been left out for this. I doubt Klopp will do it again in any of the big matches.

Any thoughts about the penalty? I thought it was badly taken but Mo has been so consistent for us was this an aberration or have keepers started to suss him out?

There are basically two sorts of penalty takers: those who hit it so hard that if it’s on target it will go in and those that try to dupe the keeper to go the wrong way. I think Salah is in the second camp and I’ve worried for a while that his tap-dance routine going up to the spot would fall flat. But as I’ve said, he has been very consistent for us.

Or maybe the club will sign someone who the fans will turn their noses up at initially, but will then turn out to be best player in the world? That’s what they did with Mo…

I would put him in the former camp myself. He blasts every one and nine times out of ten it’s straight down the middle. I’ve been amazed actually how they keep going in.

Klopp said afterwards is due to conditioning, Van Dijk isn’t ready for 3 games in 7 days.

Communication is an area Gomez needs to improve, you can see him playing the left cb position so he can do similar long balls like Van Dijk so it does look like Konate/Matip right, Gomez/Van Dijk left.

My first impression was it was Gomez. But he did the right thing running with Rebic.

TAA did not show any urgency despite the danger. He jogged back the entire way. Second goal as well. For me he is more to blame.

I also question Matips decision making with the first goal. For me he should never have stepped forward to attempt the tackle. He was too easily bypassed.

I was referring to their respective forms, not their skills or ceilings.

Mane and Jota are way better than Div, hence the concern since they have fallen so much.

I’m not blaming Gomez per se, it was more he moved correctly as you say but there appeared to be no communication to tell others to pick up the runners and as a result the entire backline ended up in this weird 2 lines of 2 box which huge spaces everywhere.

Collectively both goals were a car crash for our defense/midfield.

Yes Trent was caught out of position and jogging back on both goals! Very annoying.

Oh, we definitely would want both of them to replace Salah
