I thought Accrington Stanley played well today. They gave us a good game and they could have got a goal, but they were up against an elite European level team.

I thought Jaydan Danns was brilliant and Darwin had a decent game. Our experienced players got abit of a rest which was great.

All in all a great result and Accrington Stanley players got to train at a state of the art training complex and play at the iconic stadium. A tale to to tell the grandkids.

What about the assist for Jotas goal that was unselfish he tried very hard all game and he was unlucky at times and he worked his socks off defensively.

Especially as Darwin continues to disappoint. Will surely be offloaded in the summer

I thought Nunez was fine. Missed two difficult chances and got an assist. No sitters.

Think fans need to accept he wonā€™t score every game, especially when his confidence is what it is atm, but he did get 30 g/a last season. Heā€™s not become a bad player overnight.

Itā€™s fairly easy to understand when you think of the type of people who would usually text in to such thingsā€¦

Nunez was vastly underwhelming once again against lesser defenders.

Yoā€¦ I am a fan of Darwin. Want him to become the goal-scoring machine that is within him - It is beginning to look inevitable though, that him and LFC still need some work to make the marriage work. :+1:

I saw Nunez with two chances. The first one, the header, was a very low percentage opportunity as it came back quick and was behind him. No issue there. The second one, after Trentā€™s shot, he was able to take a touch so it was under control, but bouncing up. The defender slid across to block so he needed to lift the shot, but he just lifted it a bit too much. That chance was not a sitter, but was much more doable than the other.

He did really well to square it and put it on a plate for Jotaā€™s goal.

We won 4-0 at a canter. Nunez played his part in that. Onwards and upwards.

Routine, expected win.
No apparent injuries is a boost

Ngumoha got his start today because Chiesa was ill for the past two days.

I thought Darwin had a good game. He snatched at the chance he put over but iv seen inform strikers do the same thing. Unfortunately - and I can understand why - his misses are scrutinised more.
What I like about him and what the pundits donā€™t give him credit for is his work rate and team play. Today, late in the game, with the game already won, he was chasing back to put one of their attackers under pressure. Also, he was genuinely happy for Dannā€™s and Chiesa when they scored.

Nunez did okay (save for one poor miss) in the first 30 odd minutes. Terribly low bar considering the opposition. After that he was anonymous - again considering the opposition and the impact Dann or Ngumoha that is a dreadful inditement. Unless something changes markedly, Darwin has to be strong favourite to leave in the summer.

He has all the physical gifts of a world class centre forward. Only thing lacking is a calm mind like Jota and supreme confidence and self- belief like Salah. And yes, he was productive last season. But a combination of the new coaching regime (rightly or wrongly) and the chatter around his misses have visibly killed his confidence. He doesnā€™t take chances any more like he used to. Heā€™s afraid that misses and mistakes will be scrutinised.
I feel terribly for Nunez the person. But I sadly donā€™t see how he gets out of this downward spiral at LFC.

Interesting to compare the Danns goal and Darwinā€™s miss.
Both times the ball bobbled and sat up for the striker, Danns under a bit less pressure from defenders, but the end result was due to confidence.

Darwinā€™s own mind is his biggest enemy

I agree with your point about confidence but I personally wouldnā€™t compare the two situations. Dannā€™s goal saw him coming onto a moving ball, time to see it and read its trajectory, keeper out of the equation.
Nunezā€™s was different, if I recall the ball was behind him, he controlled it and hit it on the swivel. When the ball is behind you, it is common to get underneath it and put the ball over. Salah and Jota have definitely done the same thing this season, and iā€™m pretty sure Diaz blazed one over the other day with more time.
That saying, I still expect better :joy:
