Post match: Liverpool v Ajax (UCL 13/9/22 8.00pm)

Much better but still not quite where we need to be.

The right hand side still isn’t working.

If Thiago hadn’t been fit we wouldn’t have won that. Outstanding performance.

Probably not when you’ve Milner waiting in line…if Naby or Hendo is fit then who knows.

One minute left, Milner still gave the ball away

hahaha, u saw that too…in the defensive zone as well

After this weekend is an International break so can’t play games after Sunday as most players will be away on international duty.

hendo should be back, so with him and thiago in there, hopefully we can have a good spell

He is absolutely the difference maker for this team

Going to be? He’s fucking sensational.

Anyway, hard to pick MOTM because they all put a shift in and I can’t fault any of them. Went for Tsimikas, Diaz and Thiago and then realised I’d overlooked Matip. And Fabinho.
Trent much improved, not sure if he was at fault for their goal or if it was just a cunt of a ball to defend, will have to watch it again.
Would have been a joke if we hadn’t won, completely dominated the whole game and made them look pretty average, they resorted to time-wasting shithousery but ended up with fuck all just like Newcastle did. Great to see.
Only annoyance on the night was Thiago’s constant crowd-rousing. It’s not needed, the crowd is either up for it or not, been that way for decades. Tonight it was a bit subdued for a European night but not too bad overall.

The enforced break clearly helped. Still nowhere near our best, but this was recognisable. Well done Joel Matip.

The other thing is Thiago is so important to us. When fit and on that pitch, he lifts the level of the team. I hope he has a good long run in the side now.

Does Klopp have a dilemma in that LB position? I feel Kostas is making a claim but also can’t help but feel he doesn’t see him as anything more than filling in when Robbo is out.

Laughed at Nunez missing a decent chance then asking the fans for more energy and passion. The cheek of him :joy::joy:

Obvious issues this year aside, that’s the second time in 13 days we’ve got a late winner. Now obviously we shouldn’t be putting ourselves in the position where we need to do that, but I think the boys are still fighting to the ends of games — I think there are just fitness and structural issues that we are dealing with rather than desire.

Win was the most important thing. Performance half decent. Other than their goal, Ajax didnt do much. Our attacking trio were somewhat disjointed.

Had a decent close up view tonight.

Its a fair point and one I feel most fans will agree with. It is clear that Elliott is a talent, his touch, deft passes, movement show that. It is just that he is a bit light weight and maybe Klopp has got it wrong a couple of times by playing him when we haven’t got the security behind him.
He is definitely a great talent, and I am intrigued to see how he develops. I just believe that at present he should be used a bit more selectively, depending on type of opposition. :+1:t2:

I had to give my seat away as I was picking my Grand Daughter up from Manchester airport. I watched until about the 75th minute (not sure exactly). I was getting ready to go out of the door when Mrs CDO said you’ve got a corner. I came back inside as Joel headed quite a way over.

I was delighted when she told me on the way to the airport that we’d won and Costas had assisted.

Made up with the win. Glad of the break (to allow players to return) looking forward to our next match (checks calendar) next month!!! Checks calendar again ( yes it is really only 14th of the month) bloody hell!!! :rage::nerd_face:

One thing I admire about Klopp, is his ability (with the majority of his post match interviews) to discuss the game/situation in an honest, enlightening and reflective manner. He doesn’t over explain a situation, merely putting it into layman terms for people like you and I. He is very good at providing a balanced view of the positives/negatives.

Well done lads,we are finally starting to look the part, yeah, one game, but some positives.
Thiago Tsimi and Matip back, all put in great shifts, and it certainly showed.
Thiago makes a big difference in the middle of the park,Tsimi must be pushing Robbo for a start, and Matip was imperious today, his last minute goal put the icing on the cake.
Normally old fashioned and only pick one MOTM,but hard to split those three so three for this one.
