I said in the match thread that it sounded like the fans were respecting the moment’s silence all game. What had happened to our big CL atmospheres?

I was thinking about this during the game. I think we’re burned out.

It’s a cycle we tend to get into. We’ll play CL for a number of years and at the start there will be some fantastic nights at Anfield but in time the novelty wears off and the atmosphere bottoms out. People get a bit bored of having to live up to the reputation every game. If we reach the latter stages it will pick up again I’d have thought.
If we find ourselves out of the CL for a few years - as we have done from time to time - then it will be good again once we get back in.
It’s all a bit like when you get a new bird, you want to smash her all over the place at first and then in time it all becomes a bit meh…so I’ve been told anyway. That’s my theory.

Somebody might have written a post about this but the Dutch supporters have all praised the organisation around the match going in and coming out of the stadium they were astonished to not be herded like cattle but instead were allowed to enjoy the atmosphere inside (many dutch supporters mixing in with ours)Anfield as well as outside it. they were allowed to roam around after the match to visit the pubs around Anfield and praised the stewards with their softly softly approach the French authorities should take note and learn.
