Let us all enjoy being Champions of the Premier League. Toughest football league in the world.
Every footie fan is different and express their emotions in different way. We are a emotional fanbase.
Before you know it, August is just around the corner, where we have to start the defence of our title. It will be even more tougher next season, our rivals will be stronger.
Its much easier to believe something as true when it fits what you want it to fit. This is a prime example of confirmation bias which is skewing perception and the judgement of usually intelligent people.
I think given what we know about how Madrid operate, the terms on which Trent signed his last deal, and the general Trend in football towards big players running down their deals, I think it’s slightly more than ‘perception’.
The idea that Madrid noticed Trent’s contract expiring just at the time that they need a right back, and thought ‘oh that’s handy - let’s get him in’ is not really credible.
If the management are concerned about losing players without value then they can set an extension signing action with two years left on the contracts. If the player refuses then they can be shopped for transfers.
Not always that easy but it is what it is.
your missing a step in here…most of your logic is sound, and based in reality…but…
while its absolutely reasonable/believable that Madrid have had eyes for him for a few years now, its also reasonable that the man himself wasnt committed either way until recently…its reasonable that LFC had an offer on the table until recently that they were committed to if Trent himself was
Madrid probably thought…‘its a 50m package for Trent, or a 60m package form Jeremie…lets see how this plays out’
either way…i really dont understand the defensivness around the ‘scouse army’…hes a 26 year old local lad whos given 20 years fantastic service to the club, yes hes been paid handsomely, but that was never a given.
…so at 26…he wants to see what the world offers…
i really dont understand how its so hard for people to understand and accept and be reasonable about…i mean…if he was off to UTD for the coin, or Citeh for the coin, then fair enough…but hes off to another country, for another experience…
to me it should be a feeling of warmth and pride, not disdain and suspicion…
After their midweek exertions i thought they would tire and we finish strong but it was them that finished the stronger, probably down to not enough rotation during the season from Slot.
Endo would have been my first sub yesterday to control midfield.
It isn’t, and the fact they have approached the RB role for the past 2 seasons as something to keep together with plasticine and sellotape suggests they were willing to play a waiting game for the right target to become available. But Real wi
But Real being willing to wait to see what happens with Trent does not mean that he’d given them his commitment that he’d join from that far back or even that he’d given them unofficial encouragement. Everyone knew what was going on with his contract and the issues at Liverpool at the backroom level that made finalizing a big new deal challenging so for them it was just a calculated gamble. It was reported that Hughes opened negotiations with him in March of last year and were engaged with him throughout until March of this year when he finally told the club of his decision. It is notable that no one at the club seems to view them as having been played, and you can see that several players are particularly unhappy at his treatment. So what is not credible is that Trent would get this level of understanding from people he has a common cause with if it was perceived that he was stringing the club along all this time.
Im the same.
I really dont get the hate. Player wants to try something new. It happens.
Be different if he walked out if we were 5th but we are champions - we will get another RB with no worries.
Yes its sad he wants to go but its a short career.
Comes after he was arguably our best player at Chelsea and one of the main reasons why we could have so much of the ball…then doesn’t see a minute on the pitch the next game, can’t wrap my head around it. We’re 2-1 up and so often Endo has been to go to man toi shore the game out. But nope, not yesterday.
Endo is a leader, a warrior, and would run through a brick wall for this club but we’d rather bring on a player that’s publicly voiced his desire to leave. No interest in playing the offside trap, no interest in following his man and getting a tackle in…because his head’s already in Madrid. Just stood still with not a fucking care in the world. Fantastic.
