Post Match: Liverpool v Arsenal (EPL 20/11/21 5.30pm)

We had thirty fucking years of it off them. You really don’t think we’re gonna make the most of this ?

6 of 11 of Arsenal’s worst PL defeats have come at Anfield. Well and truly put back in their box yesterday.
The way we closed them down and harried them into mistakes was fantastic, laughable the way some of these teams turn up at Anfield and think they can play out from the back.
Fingers crossed Jota is ok. Feared the worst at first, actually looked like the physio was doing whatever they do when there’s a break. Knee according to Klopp, just hope it’s a knock and nothing more.
Arsenal fans have become incredibly small time the last few years. first noticed it during the 5-5 in the Cup when they were acting like they’d won the fucking Champions League or something. All the usual shite yesterday, just mid-table plodders these days.

It was a good job Arteta and JK got the handbags out because until that point Anfield was as flat as a pancake. Nothing happening on the pitch. Nothing going on off it. Weirdly quiet. Anfield is at it’s best when it’s got something to get angry about. And everyone was very angry after that. All the aggression came out. Klopp was as pumped up as I’ve seen for a long time. The team responded and it was game over.

I’ve seen Arsenal almost every season under Klopp and it doesn’t matter who’s manager. I always seem to see the same performance from them. Toothless in attack. Loose in possession. Surrender meekly. They were pathetic but we were very, very good. 4-0 flattered them.

It was a good team performance with no one in particular standing out. No one played badly, apart from Sadio in the first 20 minutes or so. They never really threatened us so it was hard to say if the defence has been improved but at no time once we went ahead did I think we wouldn’t win. At the end Klopp was fist-pumping away. Anfield was rocking again and all was well with the world.

Didn’t we win that match anyway…

In the seven PL matches we have won, we have scored 25 and allowed 0.

In the five PL matches we have not won, we have scored 10 and allowed 11.

I said it after the West Ham match, we’ve not conceded a single goal when we haven’t dropped points.

well deserved win, credit to the lads and the staff for coming back strong after that loss at west ham hoping this is the start of another winning run, but never ends

was watching the west ham vs wolves game and saw Antonio get rightly penalised for blocking the keeper at a corner kick. Pity EPL referees are not consistent in decision making game to game

Yep.
Very good to see the response from the West Ham performance… but we’ve been good at that so far.

Dropped points against Brentford…
Porto suffered the wrath
Dropped points against City…
Watford got that backlash
After Brighton, Atleti got a lesson

This is good to see

Also good to see Mikel Arteta Money? (to give him his full name) squaring up to the boss to a rousing chorus of ‘Blue and White shite’

Great game - solid performance - They just couldn’t live with us.

The ‘Great run’ they were banging on about Arsenal being on just happens to coincide with them playing (a very under par Leicester aside) absolutely noone of note.

When they do play anybody with a bit about them we see how good they aren’t.
City and Chelsea have both battered them and now, so have we.

This came after an international break so we did really well. I and most of us get jittery after these international episodes, and rightly too. We get injuries and those that take the pitch behave like it’s their football baptism. Not this time.
I didn’t see this match, which might have helped, but the prematch thread was sounding like we were in normal mode, thank our lucky stars we weren’t.

Protect me Jurgen is going to get me.

Any word on Jota’s injury or hopefully just knock?

Trent Alexander-Arnold on Arsenal:

“We completely ran all over them, they continued to play out from the back and we were all over them – they were just seeing red blurs all over the place and that’s exactly what we wanted to do. That second half was outstanding.”

Just voted. First time I have ever cast 3 votes for defenders. We were offensively very good as well in the second half, but I thought we were so solid at the back that it justifies voting for defenders alone.

Hope everyone had a nice Sunday !

Worst Sunday possible. City won and Ole left.

Both were not a shock to you at least, so at least your heart ought to be uninjured from that

But yeah, particularly City winning is a great shame. The other matter was kind of inevitable.

I’d have been surprised to see Everton score let alone do anymore.

It’s not about consistency. It’s about fucking us over whenever possible where certain officials are concerned whether they’re reffing or on VAR. There’s enough evidence by now.

On yesterday’s game, why did Arsenal get a free-kick when Jota collided with Ramsdale? He took Jota out. Didn’t play the ball as far as I can see. Should have been a penalty.

I was surprised to see them get out of their half of the pitch, they were so negative.

In regards to Mane, he was woeful at the beginning just couldn’t pass to our players, but he never gave in, he kept going, didn’t hide and played through the rough patch to be a contender for the MOTM.
