His mind is offside.

As soon as I saw where they put the black line i knew it. I’d rather they just tell us and show a final frame rather than the shitty build up which resembles someone making a construction.

My mind is boggling.

In what universe is that offside? I’m glad I was out this afternoon; I don’t think my TV set would have survived that call.

Top ten on best form?

He’s been off it since we won the league, but before that he was absolutely one of the best in the world, top 3.

Alisson’s had a few seasons where his save % was above or around 80, which is top of the food chain. He was immense.

Anyone who thinks Alisson is Mignolet level need to rethink their opinion on pretty much everything.

I wouldn’t mind a draw at all in Leicester vs West Ham…
They have a very difficult run in and wouldn’t be too surprised if they dropped out of top 4.

PS: ISMF has done it again. Everyone else hands off the pre match threads!

Meanwhile, Semmy dust off that jersey for the return left vs Madrid, and Gasband get your vaccine and get yourself smuggled into Anfield for a month.

Meanwhile, I’ll do some more research and find the basement where that bluenose must be keeping the Mane and Alisson voodoo dolls…seems the pin got a bit loose on the Firmino doll, he was better today and deserved to be on the score sheet too.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. In the last 30 years I can’t name a better keeper at this club.

Pepe Reina is the only one that comes close. The rest were accidents waiting to happen, most lacking mental fortitude.

Off the top of my head the list would be something like

Alisson

Reina

Dudek

James

Friedel, Kirkland, Carson, Mignolet, Westerveld, Adrian, Karius

Brad Friedel went on to be a decent keeper while at other PL clubs but was only average here.

The Mignolet comparison was an exaggeration to emphasise a point. But he’s really been off it this season when you’d want him to be the reassuring presence leading the inexperienced centre backs in front of him.

The use of “perhaps top ten” was out of frustration and wrong. Ability wise he’s very much up there with the best but his performances haven’t been of that level this season.

I don’t think save percentage counts for much as a metric. He could have made eight routine saves today, let the one he was at fault for in and still have a high save percentage.

On form he’s up there with the best. I just don’t feel he makes many of those saves you think other good but not great keepers couldn’t. And now more and more mistakes are creeping in which cost goals and his distribution hasn’t been that good either.

I know it’s a form thing and no one has really had a good season so I’m not saying he’s not the one for us. But right now his performances aren’t that of a world-class keeper. Good, but not great.

WBA Southampton Burnley

this is spot on.

on one hand i blame the players a little bit…like the trez example above…

felt like back in the day, he would have gone off and stayed off.

in all my playing years i dont think ive ever seen a player come back on the park once already injured to stop the game…

Disagree, for about 18 months it felt like he’d saved every 1v1 chance the opposition had.

He was world class.

What was the issue in the WBA game, I know the Soton one but penalties are not goals and that stuff happens.

Everton and Brighton however were a disagrace especially that Everton one

Not sure if @FGred is referring to the same incident, but we had a blatant penalty turned down. Taken from my match report:

We should have been awarded a penalty when Furlong had Sadio in a bear hug in the box but, as usual, nothing was given. Had it been Kane or Fernandes in that position, we all know what the outcome would have been.

And Ajayi’s equaliser looked offside but, of course, there was no redrawing of lines for our opponents.

To be honest Mane should have had one at Newcastle I’d rather to stick to crap such as these offsides and the assault on VVD.
