Post match: Liverpool v Aston Villa (EPL 20/5/23 3pm)

In short, if there is a reasonable expectation of the defender being able to bring the ball down and play it out, the ref may consider them being in possession and treat the touch, regardless of where it goes, as starting a new phase of play.

The overwhelming majority of touches from players simply trying to defend do not meet that threshold.

Did he not knock the ball onto Diaz was on the ground, and that touch led it going to VVD which is why he was offside?

No. And that additional touch isnt needed for to to be offside.

Henderson is an amazing captain who has won us the top trophies.

Is he playing well now? Not really and is he someone who will have to be managed going forward? Yes.

But I won’t forget everything he has won.

My favorite Red…and has been since he got here.

Not a great game, I was probably fortunate that my stream kept cutting out.

I have not seen the disallowed goal so can not comment but the Mings foul on Gapko is ridiculous.
People will compare it to the Jota high foot but it is completely different. It is high, almost a straight leg and very reckless. Unlike Skipp who goes into head the ball (very brave) Mings has literally took Gapko out.
Anyhow, irrespective of my anger at that decision, we were no where near good enough.

People saying Mings should have been sent off I assume think Jota should also have walked?

Yes

Everyone thought Jota’s tackle was a red; just got away with it because the spurs player he kicked should have been sent off in the first half. Bit of an odd strawman to try and point score with.

I didn’t see any tackle from Jota today that warranted a red.

Not today, in the Spurs game when booted thingy in the head

Only a rival would be bringing that up now.

No they didn’t. Look back at the thread…

Why do we have to treat different incidents as being the same? If you want to argue they are the same then do so, but dont treat it as such a self-evident point that it doesnt have to defended. @Lynch04 has already given a solid explanation for why they might be considered different

That’s better.

They were the same. In the heat of the game both went in with a raised boot. Both dangerous and both reds imo but neither were given.

100%, nothing more to argue. People at times like to overthink things for the sake of it.

Seems unnecessary. Naby and Ox wont have the legacy Milner and Bobby do but they both played a part in our success under Klopp. Cropping the pic just comes across petty and childish to be honest.
