No more so than many with bigger reputations.
Have to agree Minamino has been disappointing. Personally I think he looks more like a busy mid field player than a striker. Cannot be any worse than Origi though. How sad to see him fall from hero to zero.
Ok, I’ll approach this a different way. Origi was shite, again!
Very disappointing front three. Not only Origi, also Mane and Salah.
Most of the time one step later than their opponents.
I don’t disagree with that, but Origi clearly has an attitude problem now. Each time he is given a chance, he fails to apply himself and his body language is all wrong. He just looks like he’s not arsed anymore.
I can only assume that the games Sadio played for Senegal caught up with him a week later. There’s probably a physiological state where his body (a pretty unique one) goes into a repair mode a week later that that very strong will of his can’t override. Ball control issues come into this equation just as much as the stamina and speed drop-off we’ve seen in his last two matches.
Mo on the other hand seems to be worse immediately after a rest, in his Covid case even more so. Klopp has to be applauded for the loyalty of the Div decision, but to be honest the only thing positive it lead to was stopping someone else more important getting injured. Divock has to repay the boss’s faith in him with more than that. Perhaps Taki should now expect to play in the remaining two games.
I think Klopp go the selection a bit wrong in midfield but it’s difficult to judge how far his hand was forced on this. With zero grasp on the game the front 3 were essentially starved of any worthwhile possession. And of course Origi just didn’t help himself in any way.
I really don’t like losing games at home.
100% and this for me is a blind spot for Klopp, why does he keep giving him chances? There isn’t even the reason of to rest players as Taki could have played instead of him, at least he puts in a shift.
I think Zoran summed it up well in the Origi thread, when you have Firmino playing as 2 players you drop in Origi who doesn’t even muster half a player the entire structure breaks down.
I couldn’t really think of anything to add to this last night but, in hindsight, it would have been better to rest all our outfield players who had played against Leicester. Those that had played looked tired and the rest of the team didn’t gel. Individually, there were no particularly poor performances aside from Origi who appears to have lost interest. I was reasonably happy with Tsimkas - at least in the first half - and I thought Curtis did well. I did think it was telling that the goals came either side of the quadruple substitution. It was that lack of concentration that did for us.
I’ve practically forgotten about this already. It would have been nice to tie this up last night but it doesn’t massively dent our campaign. On to Brighton now.
We missed Trent hugely IMO. Neco is a good prospect but he looked weak to me. Early days for him of course but his presence just highlighted Trent’s absence last night.
If we put ourselves in Jurgens size 16’s…
The CL doesn’t start proper until the knock-out stages in Feb 2021…
Does it really matter if we stagger into this phase or get there by blowing the teams in the group away… Does it matter if we finish top of the group or limp there in second place… The important fact is… We actually qualify… of that, we are well on course!
The crucial fact to remember… The league title could be lost by then…!
Certainly, if we don’t perform and prioritise a quest for 3points each and every premiership game…
We can be confident there will be a strong team put on the pitch at 12.30 on Saturday…
The three points will be coming home with us…
Another good performance and last nights game is forgotten…
Mentality Monsters remember… we have been doing it when it is needed

At times last night I thought Atalanta had an extra player on the pitch. Their press was relentless although they were helped by the refereeing. I’m all for letting the game flow but the guy was ignoring clear cut fouls all game.
I would rather we didnt lose but I’m not that bothered about the result. Carabao Cup defence and so many players blowing out their arse. It was a contractual obligation type performance.
Surprised Mane started. He looked totally fucked and he’s probably the fittest guy in the team normally. Hope he recovers for Saturday. We will still go through. Im not pissing my pants about that. More concerned about Saturday and what sort of team we might be able to put out.
Salah was also very poor and worst than Origi when deep.
Klopp was sort of forced into a corner here in regards to team selection. Thought we did pretty well first half considering we were up against a good level CL team, felt we had good control defensively. I was especially encouraged by Rhys Williams, who again showed he can hang at this level. So at half time I thought we could maybe do the same thing second half and get out with a point or maybe all three if we got the margins our way.
Second half though I thought they turned the screw, especially after they got the first goal. Good in possession, and after they got the second goal they could tighten up even more defensively. Never gave us any space, closed down very effectively. Every time it looked like we had the opportunity to create a breakthrough, they closed the gaps quickly.
All in all I thought we were ok. Not good, but not bad either. Lacked some final third quality, but the effort and intensity was there. Tried to do the right things offensively, but it just didn’t happen for us.
To be fair he’s got a mountain to climb to reach TAA’s level in a really short space of time BUT I will say he looks a hell of a lot better now than his first few appearances. He’s certainly progressing IMO.
Understandable gamble with a more important game against bha, normally the streams find it difficult to keep up with the game but not this time.
Oddest thing is we only need to draw next week and we still technically then have a third get out even if we don’t get a win or draw next week.
I suppose he left Salah on at 0-0 but by the time the subs came on it was 1-0, the ball did go out of play but whoever chose not to make the move and rush it back in, we shouldn’t have considering it was in the bottom half of our half.
I’m not too worried, I think it was the hardest of the three and we happily out gun Atlanta on GD in the games between us.
Klopp is not to blame imo he’s just trying to juggle the squad with so many injuries a lot of games. Plus an early kick off on Saturday. I know we thrashed Atalanta away but it doesn’t always work like that.
We’re still in a good position not perfect. But this season won’t be.
Klopp surely is to blame for the tactics which were not very good. the distance between the midfield and forwards was ridiculous as was the midfield press (why press when your set deep?).
A bit of complacency all round for me,the useless team we beat in the first game didn’t turn up and we thought we’d have it a bit more comfortable,a fucked up four minutes turned a game that never got going into a shitty loss.
