Top of the league
Don’t want to say too much.
Maybe a midfield 3 with Wirtz and Dom in it is too attacking minded.
Can not continue conceding from counters like tonight.
Well that ending escalated quickly…
Diogo this was for you my man, rest easy. We love you and we’ll remember you always.
40% of the outfield players were new.
Everyone just chill the fuck out.
Great game. We need to sort the defense but that’s for another day. We’ll be fine when the lads gel and we have Grav back.
Chiesa. Somehow when he came on, had a weird feeling let it be him that gets the goal that wins us. It was Nunez against Newcastle moment. Same level of ecstacy and so delighted because I so want him to succeed here. Maybe all it needed was another Italian player to join in
Salah scores as he always does no matter how preseason or earlier games go. Gakpo was wonderful. Ekitike is going to be absolute monster for us. Subs were off I felt but Slot did course corrections and got us home. That’s what matters at the end. Happy happy.. now we watch the rest of the games peacefully over the weekend
I had a feeling Chiesa would score as soon as Carra called it a strange substitution (bringing on our only striker from the bench is strange?).
We definitely won’t win the league this season if we don’t sharpen up in terms of shape and positioning. Ibou had a bit of a mare…
But lots of goals and a fitting tribute to Jota. Tonight I’ll be toasting him.
Not the best performance by miles but it’s three hard won points. No stand out players for me and they will need time to gel.
Really not sure why we aren’t going back to that more composed set up at 2-0 the one that put us in such a good position last year.
Wasn’t happy with the changes thankfully Chiesa turns up and we don’t see a repeat of Sunday. Konate was very poor in my view.
Ekitite and Chiesa motm for me.
End of the day you can smash teams on the opening day and achieve nothing. Get the win and a hard fought one through our own sloppiness.
That was a nailbiter. But we saw the spirit of the Champions rise up. They refused to give up and pushed into the final minutes to secure the win.
Great opening day performance by Ekitike. He looks very energetic and dangerous. Scored a goal and assisted another. Even if we don’t get Isak, we’ll be ok at #9.
We had some shocking turnovers that let Bournemouth back into the game. Konate also played badly and looked lost at times. I hope we get Guehi in soon to give more quality depth at CB.
Chiesa scored the goal of the game to give us the lead 3-2. I think there’s a good case for keeping him as a quality sub who can impact games late like that.
Finally that devastating goal by Salah to seal the game 4-2 was the cherry on top of the victory. He had a tough game overall but always seems to find a way to score and important goal, and it was done using his weaker foot!
We beat Bournemouth but they gave us a tough match. The vital part is we secured 3 points and the win to start off the season. It’s gonna be a fun watch. Let’s GO!!!
Agree with this, too many underperformed for me but you can never really tell on the opening day how things will go.
Hugo very good first half, Gakpo very good 2nd half. Liked what I saw again from Frimpong. Mac did a lot of good things too but I think didn’t get the help from the other 2 giving it away countlessly and was made to look a bit iffy at times.
Ekitike, Gakpo were our most potent attacking threats.
Wirtz played well. Almost got a goal too.
Salah had a shit game and a a beautiful goal.
Frimpong was useful , probably should learn to not use his hands so much. He’ll be penalized in the PL for that.
Rest of the team needs more minutes on the training ground.
Great moment for Chiesa to come in and score the decisive goal.
As mentioned, Dom had a good match when he was off the ball. And his decision making when he had the ball was totally awful. At fault for atleast one of the two bournemouth goals. Macca looked rusty but seemed to be growing into the match.
Gomez shut down their left when he came on but what I also noticed was his communication, which helps everyone.
Good to see him back.
It was an emotional night and that definitely showed in our play, in particular, how rigid the players seemed in their movement…
First game of the new season at Anfield out of the way, now we need the team to blossom together as soon and as quickly as possible
Mo in tears after the match and we’re all pissing and moaning during the match…
hmmmmm
