The difference between the lot you mentioned and Shearer is that they (almost) never rubbed it in your face every opportunity they got and were actually fair in their analysis involving their previous club(s). Lawro was famously harder on us than everybody else.
Shearer still operates like a fan_reporter, fundit, or whatever the hell Sky Sports has decided to call fan journalists.

Yes, I was thinking of the metropolitan area. Not the greatest place to be the village idiot of.
It reminds me of an incident many years ago when a work acquaintance thought it would be something of a wheese to get me unwittingly very drunk.
I was so pissed, I had to call my wife to rescue me. She said I looked like the town drunk. Unfortunately, the town in question was Glasgow.

Not sure that does explain much if you look at the photo of him with God and he looks just as miserable.
