Congratulation to Mo Salah. 200 goals

Back to being good on the field, mostly at least. Still can grow from this, but the direction is all that matters, as long as itā€™s all steps forwards.

Nunez a total beast, just love him and deserved to be on the score sheet. Jota with just the usual surgical moment. Salah keeps going, thereā€™s no stopping him. Trent (minor defensive worries aside) classy. Van Dijk truly colossal! Ali with a best keeper in the world performance again (watch that gif with the near blunder coming up quoting this post, laugh and then say it with me: ā€œbest keeper in the world performanceā€).

Getting at least a point vs City after the break is a must, but boy what a win would do for us thereā€¦
I hope this game didnā€™t come too early in our schedule.

Something about them away and home very different side it feels.

When we involve Endo he is good, just doing simple pivot stuff but at a pace that causes the opposition to move and he chooses his moments to go forward well. Heā€™s decent and can do a job just needs more confidence and more confidence in him from the team imo. He has a good head always high and long!
Not good enough as a 1st choice for us but all we have atm.

Easier than first thought even with a significantly weakened team. Amazing what happens when they play hard.

Good to see Van Dijk back to his impeccable best. Nunez fantastic first half but faded in the second, Salah clinical as ever; 200 goals in England. Gakpo did ok in the midfield, better than anticipated. Tsimikas with two assists and a much more lively presence, especially in the 2nd half. Alisson rock solid at the back, came to the rescue as always. Endo worked his socks off but he was again lucky to stay on after that tackle. He still hasnā€™t come to grips with the speed of the game in England.

All in all, good win, good performance and, apart from the weakness displayed at clearing our lines at set pieces, no real concerns.

MotM has to be Mo. 200 goals and only 2 off for us.

VVD was imperious again and Kostas was hugely impoved. A fair few impressive performances aside from that.

You have to wonder what else was going on with Luton and Toulouse. Whatever it was it wasnā€™t on show today.

Also we didnā€™t get shafted by the officials even though they poured over every frame of Endō looking to pin a red card on him.

Do wonder if it was illness.

Luton first half I will continue to say wasnā€™t bad

I expected more from Brentford to be honest . 3-0 and we had 4 or 5 really good chances in the second half.

Some nice composed finishing from Mo and Jo. More of that please for the rest of the season.

Could it be due to the formation?

Both Luton and Toulouse sat back and picked LFC off due to the lack of offensive pressure.

However, it is very different for this game as Gakpo occupied the CAM position that kept the pressure and possession going. 4 forwards on the pitch made the difference in terms of offensive pressure.

Pressure was far better today

That was a very decent performance, considering the players we had missing. Endo did a tidy job in midfield and Tsimikas was much improved from Thursday. Another brilliant goal from Jota as well.
Iā€™d just like Tierney to explain how Jota can be hauled to the floor, in the penalty area and yet he awards the free kick to Brentford?

Thought Endo did well .looks like a more natural 6 than mac allaster .how that pans out in the future ie line up against city . Dunno

I must admit that was baffling.

To be fair, he awarded a free kick to Spurs when Davies hauled down Salah, so at least heā€™s consistent.

It was because we were at home and Brentford played with no ambition or intensity.

Some very generous opinions on our midfield here, they were no better than average. Brentford just didnā€™t play through the midfield nor did they contest it.

Donā€™t expect many to agree but then again the same posters are surprised when those players struggle in more competitive games.

Solid performance across the park. VVD back to his best. Tsimikas had a point to prove after Thursday and did well.

Nunez was superb in the first half and really notched up the pressure and tempo when needed. I actually thought the atmosphere was really flat the first half an hour and he really tried to wake the crowd up - no coincidence we scored soon after.

Thought Endo had a good game - harsh rating on the TIA page. He sat in, slowed down attacks and did well in transition. Not sure what else you can do as a DM.

Set up nicely for the break. A strong start to the season, though weā€™re still clearly not consistent enough away from home. The City game will be a huge test and weā€™ll need to be as sharp and professional as we were today.

Up the reds :v:

Tierney was being a dick as usual but he sort of did us a favor because both the crowd and the players were galvanisƩd after that

Top performance, top goalsā€™

FT: Liverpool 3-0 Brentford

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC MOTD: "More than 20 years ago when I started my career, I wanted to create a team that nobody wants to play against and we faced that team today.

"Itā€™s crazy! This spell where they had six corners in a row I thought ā€˜oh god.ā€™ But we defended with so much passion in the moment. The goals we scored were fantastic.

"Top goals, top performances. Darwin Nunezā€™s work rate for example was second to none. The boys were there for second balls. It was a difficult game against a top opponent so Iā€™m really happy with the performance and the result.

"The squad is a really good squad. The kids who were on the bench today enjoyed it a lot. James McConnell came on and obviously he really enjoyed it too! A good day.

"Wataru Endoā€™s performance was top. He saved our lives in many moments and was super disciplined. So many good moments. The wind made life difficult and they pressed so there were tricky moments but he was really good.

ā€œActually, [the Man City game is] not what Iā€™m thinking about. These boys who played today need recovery, I hope they get that before games with their countries and hopefully they come back healthy then we can try [against Manchester City]. Itā€™s about reacting [to defeats] and the reaction today was great.ā€
