Post Match: Liverpool v Brentford (EPL 12/11/23 2pm)

Good to be back at Anfield with a win. Think we played well, albeit against a poor Brentford.

VvD MotM, very much back to his best. Mo and Nunez great in attack. Tsimikas much better than last time out

Midfield did well but honestly weren’t under much pressure, so difficult to judge. Whoever plays against City, will have to up his game at least a couple of notches

Still annoyed we left two points against Luton, which would have put us top of the table

I agree. I thought he was really good. Put himself about and made a nuisance of himself.

Another difficult on paper home game won at a canter. Great to see Tsimikas and Endo respond so well to a lot of criticism.
Everyone put a decent shift in. Special mention to Tierney who got the crowd fired up which led to the first goal.
Just seen the highlights, decision to disallow Darwin’s 1st goal looked bullshit.

Absolute toss.

Can you love a player more

You asked the wrong person.

Anyhow what was the context of that as I missed it in the game.

Much better performance today, pleasing to see Tsimi and Endo put in decent shifts after their last outings, hopefully it continues.
Virg turned in a good effort,MOTM for me.
The challenge is, of course Citeh in a couple of weeks, but given today,I feel more confident looking to that,

Challenge near the halfway line. Brentford player jumps into Matip and is given a free kick. JM understandably frustrated gets a yellow.

I thought most of them played well. The stats on Endo above aren’t necessarily great, but on the eyeball test he helped give the side some balance, as Szobo and Gakpo are pretty attacking.

Virg was very good and my lad said during the game he looked back to his best, even if athletically, with some added age and since the bad injury, he isn’t at his very peak any more. But three more years like that will be just the ticket.

Mo is a very reliable scorer of goals, 200, excellent! Darwin played well and was a real spearhead to the team, which helped the others do their thing.

I could keep going but I’ve nothing to add that others haven’t said!

We have a title challenge in us. What remains to be seen is whether we can keep pace when Man City start to go through the gears and put a winning run together. Ideally we beat them after the international break and keep going.

Up the reds!

Well, if he bulks up more, he should be better…

The ref wasn’t bad, a couple of strange decisions like the Matip yellow, but the big call with Endo he got right. A biased ref would surely have taken the opportunity to at least give a yellow there.

Fuck Luton , should have been top of the table.

Or VAR - take your choice.

It wasn’t VAR though was it? It was the corrupt and/or incompetent officials who ignored the clear evidence in front of them.

Clearly stats lie, anyone can see our defending is terrible. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ah I did wonder how he got a yellow.

Attwell seemed to be obsessed on checking everything and as you said referred that challenge to Tiernay.

No fan of his at all but Attwell was the worse of the two today.

I thought it looked off in real-time. The feeze frame looked a toe over but it was on a bit of an angle on the live coverage, so difficult to tell by sight alone.

I saw the Endo challenge on MOTD last night.
From the descriptions on SKY etc I thought it was going to be vicious and a potential leg breaker… it was innocuous. MacAllister and Jones reds kept Tierney in check. A red there would have been questioned or overruled. He couldn’t be seen to be corrected.
