Frimpong’s energy and pace allowing him to fill the whole of the right flank was a good solution to the “problem” of having Wirtz play on the right. It allowed Wirtz to come inside looking for the ball in other areas without us losing the outlet out wide. It seemed like it suited them both so is a partnership I’d like to see again next week.
We are never going to reach the levels of the Klopp era while we play this side to side walking football. It’s all becoming so boring to watch week after week of the same shit performance we put on. We are basically just crowded out once we get into the last third because it takes us so long to get there. I also question some of the lads attitude, we play away to the best form team and likely Champions in the league and and come away with a clean sheet and then can’t beat teams at home that will be playing in the Championship next season.
I thought the first half was great but as soon as we dropped the tempo in the second half and reverted to aimlessly passing it around in our own half you just knew we were going to let them back into it. And once we did I didn’t think for one minute we’d claw back the advantage. Just so fucking depressingly predictable.
Yeah the goal didn’t come directly from one, but that 5-10 min period was in large part caused by being lazy in possession in the back and giving it away poorly in our own half 2 or 3 times. All of a sudden we went from complete control to having to do a good amount of defending.
Today’s result is not on Slot.Having said that he needs to go.He is not going to turn things around.5 wins in the last 17 league games is beyond embarrassing for a club like Liverpool.
I’m finding listening and watching LFC..quite exasperating …we look as if we are running rings round em…we score…then the brakes go on…then we implode…nobody wants to run…some of LFC have extraordinary brain farts…but we just look as if we don’t know where the goals are or what to do to put the ball in the net…what the fuck has gone wrong…we need help quick…but what…I know not…
Frustrating result and very unlucky to have dropped points in this one. 2.95xg vs 0.4xg for the opponents. They scored on their only real chance. We did not finish enough of ours…simple as. The positive for me is the continued emergence of Wirtz. He is a special player. Also, while the scoreline doesn’t suggest it, I saw a major improvement against a low block. We were creating chances an much more creative in the final 3rd. Slot says they have been working on this and I think we saw glimpses of that today. At least we are still in the top four.
The players look complacent to me. Dicking around like they suddenly got bored with the game halfway through. So we got a lot of chances. Imagine how many chances we’d have if we played full-on football for 90 mins.
I was at the game and we did play some nice stuff and created many chances to score, we’re just not clinical in front of goal. We have players who are afraid to shoot and play one too many passes when in decent positions to score. I had a good view of the Burnley goal and the lad was given the freedom of Anfield, he was in so much space. I watched our players as Burnley celebrated and saw their heads drop, I knew then we weren’t going to win the game. There’s not many leaders in our team, even Virgil is too quiet and nice. Champions League qualification is very much in the balance.
