Pains me to say it but one of the teams out there tonight played well I thought.
Hope not, then again the olny team we can beat at the moment is SU and they are bottom!
Well said, it is strange that we were very good (?) the first three games, shit against Villa, and then pretty solid through Palace bar the Fulham performance. Sure, we dropped points at Brighton and Goodison, but we were generally good in those games and arguably deserved more. I admit I was surprised thinking we could repeat with all the injuries we had, but then just off a cliff. We have had bad fortune on a number of occasions but we’ve also been pretty shit on a number of occasions. Only thing that would have made it worse was if United beat us at home, at least if we’re gonna lose five in a row at home for the first time ever they weren’t one of the five.
Both teams had their moments one was just better overall.
Yeah seems it was said. Quoted from sky aswell. Shocked
Fuck knows. I still can’t get over Jones being the first lad off every game despite being our best player in these last few games
I think it’s because he’s young and needs to be managed, he starts every game at the moment.
We’ll see, Klopp does strange things in selection imo that I take as him not trusting a player athe the best not respecting them at worst. Then he is the manager that I respect just find some of his decissions strange to say the least (for example he often puts young players down until they become catagorically indispensable like TAA).
I’ll give Kabak some credit, thought he was far better than Fabinho tonight. Robbo did okay, as did Jones.
Mane’s poor form continues whilst Firmino and Wijnaldum are terrible once again, as they have been for the last 3 months. Change needed in the side.
Oh, and Milner and Chamberlain were beyond poor when they came on. Jota looked sharp and surely has to start every game he is fit for, no debate left anymore.
Not to be dramatic or rude to Gini. But I’m not mad about us giving him a new contract. I don’t think I’d be massively sad if he goes. wish him well of course thanks for the memories but we need something new. He’s a good lad but goes missing just too much in games. Would love to see his goals and assists for us
So like, at what point do people want to admit that this is the level of this team now? After 18 months of playing like absolute wank, surely some SERIOUS questions now need to be asked of this team and the management. It is fundamentally broken.
Injuries can only partially explain the poor form the team is in, at the moment. The front three are horrendous, lack of competition for starting 11, no viable options on the bench (even in good times), a stubborn Klopp and lack luster acquisition are all making for a “perfect storm” of a mid to bottom table performance. Of the three summer acquisitions, only Jota seems to have made the grade. Tiago has gotten more cards than he created good passes, and Tsimikas is yet to play any significant minutes. The team is just not built well enough. Yes it does look like Dortmund 2.0 . Don’t misunderstand me, LFC has been my love (don’t tell my wife ) for the better part of 50 years and will continue to be, come hell or high water. I’m writing this with an aching heart. YNWA
What questions?
wonder how many clubs have gone on their longest ever home run of being undefeated followed immediately by their longest ever home run of defeats.
stuff like that seems beyond just being an anomolie
doesnt pass the smell test
I’ll leave that attempt to someone paid more than me. I’d probably start however with “why are you continuing to start players that have been woefully out of form for 12 months? Why have our tactics not changed in 2 years? Why are you persisting with a high backline that has been a liability for near 3 years?” and go from there. Something needs to change.
This isn’t something that can be analyzed. The world fucking nearly-ended last year, as far as socializing, working and being locked up in homes, at least…And here we are trying to explain football results and anomalies like it’s 2019.
The anomaly is that “this” is continuing.
Oh, and it’ll make a lot of sense to sack managers and players in this new normal decade. Go ahead football clubs, do what you do.
Agreed. We may have to face up to the fact that the front 3 are no longer what they once were. We can give them a pass this season due to COVID I suppose. Firminho especially has gone downhill massively.
The only thing that needs to change is you stop talking absolute fucking shite.
This is bloody awful and it is not improving,no wins at Anfield this year,Fortress Anfield is looking like a nursery.
Sure it is empty, but aren’t other PL grounds?
Not interested in singling out players, that is too easy and pointless.
Something is not right, just hope it can be sorted soon!
I do think that there must be new solutions to the current problems, especially the attack? We just can’t keep playing 4-3-3 with a high backline and keep bashing our heads against opponent defense by relentlessly attacking when all those approaches are not working right now.
We should change to 4-3-1-2 or 4-2-3-1, dropping Firmino and giving Keita/Shaiqiri chances to play as high CAM behind No.9 (either Salah or Jota).
There are always solutions for any problems, if you also count partial solutions.
And, we should ask why we suffer far more injuries than other teams, despite all other teams also have to face unusual conditions this year.
I’ve also been saying it. Klopp should have changed tactics 5 games ago already but instead, he’s persisting with ineffective tactics and subs. At this rate, we will struggle to finish in the top half of the table nevermind CL or even Europa.
I still believe in Klopp but he has to bring the hammer down on underperforming players and stop with the long ball tactics.
